I'm not affiliated with them (though I am an Alumni):
The 7th annual GT Autoshow is going to be held April 3rd, here's the site: www.gatechautoshow.com/
You can register (for free) and bring your car, or just come and walk around.
It's not huge but it usually has a myriad of really interesting rides. Everything from the Ferrari Dealer Owner's Enzo to the fella who dropped by with his Ford GT in the rain a couple years back and let wet kids jump in and out of it! It's got beaters, projects, track cars, race cars, engine swaps, off-roaders, all in a real laid back parking lot. A couple years ago we had the track beater XR4 there and a GT3 parked next to us and we chatted it up for awhile. One kid brought a registered/street legal R34 Skyline. There was an older Merc with an LS1 conversion. I remember seeing an MG with a 2.3Turbo Ford. Porsches, Lotuses, MGs, Austins, American Muscle, it was one of the best cross section sampling of cars in one spot I've ever seen!
My buddies and I will be there with the XR4 again this year!
just might have to go... Maybe a mini Grassroots meet?
probably gonna go tomorrow morning. So Ed Wettach is bringing his Enzo down? Been in the basement of Ferrari of Atlanta? Its a whole nother world...
Dang, wish I could go. I am going to be on the beach with my family...nertz.

Dunno if he'll come this year, he came 3 years ago, then 2 years ago but it started raining so he didn't unload it off the truck, I didn't go last year, but he usually brings other Ferrari's and assorted goodies he doesn't mind getting wet, but this year looks like perfect weather, in fact sunscreen will be in order!
I went to Georgia Tech. Great school. I can promise you one thing - the campus will be littered with gorgeous women. No wait. That isn't right. I only saw attractive women when I made the drive to Athens.

You must have not gotten out much You don't go to Tech to find chicks, you go out in Atlanta and they're everywhere...

Highlands, used to like DarkHorse and Hand&Hand, when we'd go slumming we'd hit Famous and Maggies (more Decatur), or "the Library" over near Tech, also used Buckhead before they tore down bar row (going on 10 years now), the new Fado's is better than the old though, and you always have the trifecta of college terribleness still there (MoonDogs, Peachtree Tavern, Hole in the Wall), but alas Mako's and Tongue & Groove (hot ass chicks, something about salsa dancing?) are gone. East Andrew's is still there, guess I'm old enough to join that yuppie crowd, though I'd rather not. Midtown had the best clubs old Vision (gone), new Vision (gone but trying to be resurected), Compound (gone), 1150 (now Opera). All those days are over for me, but I'm glad I did it even when I had engineering courses to complete
The last couple years people always end up doing rev-offs just for giggles, the best was an sidepiped C3 Corvette modded to hell thundering so loud you could feel the exhaust pulses beat your heart for you...
haha, ya, probably not that loud, but its just a downpipe... so...
I just got some mail from Georgia Tech, I was interested in their construction graduate programs. Any insight?
Slightly off topic, but when's Wreck Racing going to bring a running car to the challenge?
Seriously! I want to see what the V8 miata can do!

So the XR4 took a dump today, down a cylinder, she's not gonna make it but I'm still going! I fixed the fuel pump relay in time for either plugs or TFI to go wonky, God I hate this car...

I have owned MANY XR4Ti's and can tell you that you need a spare set of plugs, a spare TFI, a spare distributor gear and a 5.5 mm 6-point deep-well on a 1/4-drive ratchet at all times. Really, the TFI and plugs are not that expensive. Why not throw some parts on it and drive it in?
BTW, do you need a complete factory manual for your XR4? I have an extra in the garage.

spare TFI check, it's ok, tested it, distributor good, recently replaced, checked, tested ok, set of plugs negative, on my last set, and was waaaay too hot to work on last night, the car's also not at my house or else I would be driving it in, and yup I've got the factory manual, but it doesn't mean as much since we made our on wiring harness when we put in the megasquirt, and just about everything on the car is non-factory :)
no worries, I'm going to just go enjoy the show and take lots of pics, it'll be just as fun without the added enjoyment of expecting AAA to take me home!

Cool. Look, if you end up needing any parts please let me know. I am running low on a lot of the turbo Ford stuff at this point (sold my Pintos a while ago), but still have a lot of good used stuff. And I dig Pull-A-Part at least twice a week these days. So, let us know!

I went to Tech as well. Speaking of girls at Tech (or the lack thereof), I had a female friend who went there... some sort of non-engineering field (ie. she was cute). Her friends from other schools would always tease her that she went there for high male population. She had a great reply..."The Odds are Good, but the Goods are Odd!"
I can't disagree. Lots of very smart, very weird people. I spent every Wed evening and many weekends in Athens where my sister went to school. We called UGA the "Land of Milk and Honeys."

WHAT'S THE GOOD WORD??!!
By senior year the odds were improving. I swear they started requiring a photo with female applications.
