ok, so it looks like a new chumpcar team is forming in atlanta to help me find a use for a friends bmw 535i, and hopefully provide a fun outlet for those of us who cant afford to drive V8 supercars! so far the team is three people. myself, nderwater, and a former teammate of nderwater from a previous team. i'm personally looking forward to working with people who have done this before!
the current plan is to keep the car at nderwater's place (marietta area) while it is prepared. if someone else has a suitable work space that certainly couldnt hurt to discuss. the exact event has not yet been determined and i think we are still open to event suggestions..... though i think we have decided that chumpcar is preferred to lemons.
is anyone else from the area interested?
Im interested. Maybe Maroon and Snap Understeer as well. Im up in Buford, but am regularly in Marietta, so i can definitely lend a hand.

i was wondering when you would chime in! ha! so far i dont think we have enough info to say a price per seat yet since that always depends on the number of people involved. an the number of people involved has a lot to do with what event we run and how long a race (or races) it is (just to make sure everyone gets a decent amount of seat time). i think right now i'd like to get an idea of how many people would be interested so we can start to narrow options down (by timeframe, acceptable cost, desired event) and get to that point. i'm not looking for a contract right now or anything. just gauging interest!

More than you'd think. Dear God it adds up quick on the first event. Cage, brakes, seat, safety equipment, tires, and gas hurt. Not trying to be a downer, just trying to help you guys avoid some of the pitfalls we didn't see. Are you guys planning on doing Roebling? LeMons runs @ CMP, just fyi.

Well, I'm definitely interested and certainly willing to meet up and start to figure it out. I've been wanting to do this for awhile.
That said, I might be going through a job change soon, so I'll have to play it by ear. At the very least I can come help turn some wrenches.

I wish it weren't so expensive to race at Lemons/Chump. I would be interested, but I don't have the jack right now, the SO got laid off.

Fast forward to about 2:00. It doesn't look like much in the video, but there was a LOT more fire in the car than out.
That charred thing in the middle used to be a box that housed the fuel pump, filter, etc. That's all under the car now. In retrospect, I don't know what Chris was thinking.
