Does anyone in the Atlanta area participate in Kart racing? I've always wanted to try my hand at karting and need some direction on what is available around Atlanta and gathering up info.
I think Barnesville Georgia has a kart race this weekend that looks like fun. Is anyone from the forum attending?
I'm in the same boat - I've been interested in karting forever, but proposals for karting facilities in the metro Atlanta area always seem to get shot down by the 'not in my backyard' crowd. There is a kart track slated to be added to the new Atlanta Motorsports Park in Cumming, but it's too early to know when it will be ready or whether the track will be open to non-member$$.

I'm actually rolling my pennies for a possible karting membership to AMP. $3k plus about $70 per month is the current rate. I want to get my son into karting when he is old enough but I don't want to get into a karting league after talking with a friend who organized a league (too much B.S.). There used to be a kart track on County Farm Rd in Cobb County, no idea what happened to it.
There is an Indoor Karting League at Andretti Speed Lab. Forgot how much it is to do the whole season, but i did a race one weekend for something like $50, but the regulars dont really like new comers (what i gathered when i went) and will relegate you to a slow class...
Ive been to Barnesville a number of times. Its an awesome track, but neglected. If they were to clean it up, id take my Kart down there.

I never ran the league, but I used to run bombshell at Andretti on Mondays for nearly a year a couple back, it was alot of fun, cheapest time you could get, including the league...
My buddies and I are thinking of starting back up this winter, PM me if anyone wants to go so we could reserve full races. It helps if you can control who is running with you...

Hey guys, this is Chris from the ProCup Karting League at Andretti and we love new drivers joining us to race! I apologize if you got the feeling otherwise, but we try to place drivers in a class they can be most competitive, not because we don't want newbies. We have a practice next Saturday @ 10am and the final race of the Fall season is the next Saturday (11/6). If you are interested in doing more, come and drive these events and get ready for a great winter season. Practices are discounted for league participants ($16 per heat).
Hit me up with any questions,

Yeah the physical aspect is critical the first few runs, I've found most of it is the shear adrenaline/driving 'red' the first few times out. You really have to control things like breathing, how tight you grip and use your arms and legs, it's almost as much about not overusing your muscles because you will be exhausted otherwise.
Monday's used to be half price, but it was only after a certain time, I've heard it got earlier for the bombshell races.
