Contact the LeMons guys and ask. Having owned a 2000 TT, it sounds like a fair price so far.
Ok... Im going to go ahead and say it... 4g63T
The 2.7 from the s4 has 5 valves per cylinder, is a v6, and has 2 turbos. More important than anything else, I have one. I asked on here because the challenge rules say any LeMons car automatically qualifies.

If you're going that route, id go ahead and say build it to lemons spec and bring it along.

+1 to this. Lemons has some pretty expansive safety regs that are hard on a challenge budget. Set is up for lemons and take advantage of the Challenge lemons allowance. How does that 2.7 twin turbo motor hold up for endurance racing? Might need to turn down the boost it to make it survive.

Id look for a longintudinal transaxle and mount that biturbo midship.
Where are you located? Last time i looked there was on on Milwaukees Craigslist

The 2.7T will almost certainly not fit in the transverse TT configuration. If you go longitudinal, you will need an entire drivetrain. Sounds like a cool project, one I have considered myself. I wish you luck.
Can you cap the rear of the trans like the subie swap guys do to make the allroad transmission only use the front axles? If so-there's your mid engine trans!
Yes. The 2.7 is entirely longitudinal so it needs a drivetrain swap from a b5 a4 and shorten the driveshaft. The transverse tt quattros run the haldex system which is electronically controlled but the longitudinal has the torsen center diff and is entirely mechanical. I don't have a drivetrain right now anyways so...
I think I can fit the subframe off a v6 Passat (easy to source and accomadates engine) and it will give me the added advantage of going from a McPherson system to a multilink suspension. Going to have to do some sheet metal work on the strut towers.
You can use a front wheel drive trans out of a Passat or front wheel drive A4. Any ideas on how to securely mount the engine in the middle. I'd love to do a Poorsche but most people do a poor job with mounting the engine.
Its a long way from driving. Good Luck!
I think a TT would look good with a pair of fiberglass rear flares from a Porsche 911 Turbo.

If you want to go "mid-engine", it would be MUCH easier to use a FWD 1.8T power package from a FWD TT or GTI. It's more compact, incorporates the existing chassis harness, fits easily behind the driver and is capable of over 400HP.
I have the 2.7t, I also have a second block, and a stoker crank, and easy access to large port heads. On e85 the 2.7 can push over 600 HP with a reasonably wide power band. I'm pretty much set on the engine.
I will post pics in a day or two of the factory mounting and want to see what ideas people would have for a mid mount. I know it's traditional to use transverse parts on a transverse car, and that's why I'm here, because it's not tradtional to put a v8 in a miata, or a svt mustang motor in the back of a Geo metro. The TT and the 2.7t are set, whether it goes front or mid and which trans gets bolted up are still open for ideas.
I'm in the Knoxville Tennessee area.

"The TT and the 2.7t are set" Find a 'vette transaxle, move the driver's seat back and have a DTM car. The TT structure is very solid. Tie into the longitudinal front unibody rails for the engine and the quattro rear subframe mounting locations for the transaxle support. Lots of room in the stock body for rear tire width. Wider front fenders are available from Europe.
This aught to be interesting.
Ohhh now this sound cool!!!

For a Lemons/Challenge car, I vote for K.I.S.S: SBC backed by whatever transmission you can find and a solid rear axle. Fabricate fenders and hood to cover it.
I am pretty sure that this car will get tons of laps if done properly with that engine and chassis combo.
A totaled (due to flooding) stock RX8 got like 1 billion laps. (I am not exaggerating). I am pretty sure they gave them 1 billion laps.

You'd need to mount it longitudinally anyway, since there is no off the shelf transverse transmission that it will bolt up to.

Easiest is probably to just cut the whole firewall and front floor out of a dead B5 and graft that to the shell. That way the rack mounting is sorted.
034 Motorsports used a 996 rear end to mount a 6 speed 01e fwd transmission for a mid engine mount on a GTI golf. It's the same platform. I want to go with a midship position. All I have to do is find a wrecked manual Passat. Should be moving to a build thread in a couple weeks.
Just bored and wanted to throw these on here
These are from last summer. He's gotten so much bigger. I've picked up a set of real Audi rings to put on it from the junkyard.
He grabs the Grassroots magazines from around the house and brings em over and then we'll flip through it and he'll point to the pictures and I'll name the cars. He even says Ford now and points to the mustangs in certain ads.
