My daughter lives in Raleigh and her car has some electrical gremlins that she needs to get taken care of.  Can anybody here recommend a shop?  She's not much of a DIYer and I'm too far away to help.  Thanks in advance!

Hopefully Brett Murphy will chime in. I've only been there for a weekend. We did stop by a tuner shop and they had an impressive array of cars there. If they don't do normal work maybe they can recommend someone.

I will give a few:

1- West German Garage. Owned by a guy named John Elliason, I used to work with him about 15 years ago on a couple of side hustles he had, straight up dude, fair, talented. Runs the shop right. https://www.google.com/maps/place/West+German+Garage/@35.786051,-78.7235697,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89acf44331f56ac7:0x8eea7978f1d66298!8m2!3d35.786024!4d-78.7213778

2-TurboTime: I used to know Eric back in the day, he was a very skilled Sy/Ty guy and it turned into a business and they seem to cater to Subaru's now. https://www.google.com/maps/place/TurboTime/@35.4759001,-79.1895105,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89acf2bfe17dd7a5:0xa4f4e051507f1a03!8m2!3d35.4758893!4d-79.185023

3-Carroll's Auto and Tire shop: My dad uses this place for his C4. He is a pretty critical customer and always seems happy with them. I have no personal experience there but my dad has been going for multiple years and is always happy. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Carroll's+Tire+%26+Auto+Center/@35.6591506,-78.8361586,18z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x89ac8dfefbc26efd:0xa04c5dd9c3478652!8m2!3d35.6591505!4d-78.8351837

+1 for West German Garage. They've been around since the 80s and have always had a good reputation.

If she's on the Cary/Apex side of town and has a Honda, TAO Auto has been around for years and I took my Hondas and Acuras to them. 919-832-0118

I've gotten good service from Peak Auto on 64 in Cary, but I've only been there twice. They're my new go-to since my preferred shop closed a couple of years ago. 919-363-8589

Thanks everyone!  I really appreciate the responses.  I should have mentioned that she has a 2012 Mazda 3.

I'll throw in Creech Auto Repair as a good general automotive repair shop with a good reputation.

And Janko Import Cars. They're honest dudes and car guys, but they focus more on Euro/Subaru stuff. I use them when I'm feeling lazy.

I threw work at CarFix Auto Repair (Raleigh location)- a water pump on a 3.7 Ford engine, which is timing chain driven. Nobody else but the dealer would touch it. They did a great job with it and worked with me to keep the price reasonable, though I DID almost buy a Protege 5 from one of the techs there.

My opinions on the others, where I'm qualified to have an opinion:

I've heard good things about West German Garage.

Phantasm will likely be pricey for simple diagnostics. They're more of a tune/dyno shop, but they CAN do the work.

Turbo Time moved to Sanford (45ish minutes from Raleigh). Great Subaru shop- I used them when they were closer.
