So, are we gonna get a new batch of 200AAA tires or are there ones out there right now that do it well enough?

In reply to Flight Service:
The new batch has been out since last year. There are some incredibly sticky tires that are "200 Treadware" right now.
Seems like Rivals and Bridgestones (Hoosierstones) are the hot ticket. With Nationals at Lincoln next week, the true winner will soon be decided.
Kumho just recently released a new tire which is supposedly about as good as the Rival S.
Would not be surprised if Falken and Hankook came out with something completely new next year and maybe Dunlop would do a further evolution (they've introduced a new "evolution" of the Direzza Z almost every year for the past few years).
Wildcards would be Continental and Cooper. This is a space that they really should be playing in but for some reason aren't.
for everywhere other than Lincoln I thing the bStone is most often "IT" .. but the Rival S was designed especially with Lincoln in mind … the BFG tire engineers were there last yr after the event when all the OPR was still there, running several different compounds and the word is that the one that came out the best is what went on to become the Rival S

the Kumho V720 has been tested by several top level drivers … the results are mixed ...

This. It'll be interesting to say the least. Last year was teh RS-3 V2's. It's just going to be a continual battle for the "best". I'm OK with the "almost best" because I'm not even a good enough driver to use those to their potential.
As of last weekend RE71Rs are the top dog from everything I've heard.
Hope that remains true through the coming weekend... I have a set on the Evo with 20 miles on them.
The RE-71R's were very strong at the Toledo Pro and Toledo Match, which is probably the most Lincoln-like of any national site. I believe they were also strong at the Wilmington Champ, which is also a similar surface, although I think the Rivals were closer there.
does Toledo have the same OPR problem that Lincoln has ? it seems that I remember the BFG engineers working especially hard to utilize/combat that
I'll be interested in the ST and S results to see which tire comes out on top
No, Toledo does not take rubber hardly at all. I'd say that's the big difference between Toledo and Lincoln. No clue why Toledo doesn't have OPR while Lincoln does when they're ostensibly the same surface.
Toledo match tour had 200 drivers, Saturday everyone got 3 runs before it rained, so that's 600 runs and it was taking no rubber at all outside of the start line. There were plenty of marbles but nothing stuck to the surface.
preface: I've not been to either … but many of my friends from 2 different regions go to both … Lincoln is just different … folk come back and show me shoes that are totally worthless/ruined because of course walks and the OPR they pick up … some of it has to do with the concrete joint filler … that becomes part of the pick up … beyond that … I don't know …just know that Lincoln is different …
it'll be interesting to see if the BFG engineers came up with a compound that's "perfect" for Lincoln
Tire Rack has a $75 rebate on 4 RE71s. I was going to be price conscious and buy RS3s a a Challenge tires but with rebate, the Bridgestones were cheaper.
