Simeone is walking distance to the airport. Yes really! They also have indoor event space rentals available.

oh wait, the pandemic killed it.
Sigh, make sure the places you mention here are actually reopening. That may not always be the case :/
This was the most depressing thing... That place was a gem. Both my son's had birthday parties there. They also let me build a baja SAE chassis in their shop for my senior project in college... Right across the shop from a few Indy cars. I wish some rich car guy would write that place a check for a few million bucks and preserve it for a while longer.

Keith it must have been quite a while ago; there are now condos and custom houses there as well as garages. Sounds like you haven't been there in about 10-15 years.
It's my home track.

...Also just down the road is the LeMay Collections at Marymount. Not as flashy as its better known counterpart, but perhaps more GRM appropriate.

We ran a model car contest there every February. Word is there was a huge fight in the Board and the check writer was tired of the drama and used COVID as an excuse to GTFO.
The AACA museum in Hershey PA is pretty good as well; it's nearish the Harrisburg airport.
obviously only American cars besides the TR6 cutaway and the Ferris bueller "Ferrari"
This fits all the criteria except being in the US. But it's Canada so that's pretty close. I went to a corporate event here a while ago at a pipeline conference. Very cool place.

I agree. Good place even without the car portion.
Great suggestions guys, thanks! The Simeone may be just the ticket. I actually got to see the collection years ago before it was in its new (public) location, it used to be in an old building in downtown Philly. Dr. Simeone was a customer of mine and I got to go to a private event there.

More like 18 when I think about it. Before GM and the country club and the expansion. It was just another sleepy little desert track owned by a mad individual.

This place is pretty cool, could use a little TLC, but the cars are still cool. His wife still runs the place. Afton, Ok. about an hour from Tulsa.

Don't confuse this of being a museum about a guy who made cars. Instead, it is a museum of things a revolutionary car maker thought was interesting and notable about innovation and it has continued to add more and more.
Also happens to be just about 10 miles from Detroit Metro Airport.
Second the Henry Ford Museum. It's not a car museum, it's the collections of one of the greatest engineering minds this country has ever produced. Yes, some cars, but also trains, planes, and more stuff than you can see in a day. It is adjacent to Greenfield village which houses famous buildings transplanted from around the country, like the Wright brothers shop, Edison's invention factory, and many others.
Yes, it is in Detroit, but even I can get over that to go see the Henry Ford. All appropriate services should be readily available.

If it was that long ago the tunnel was probably still a dirt hole. Yes back then it was nothing to right home about.
