I realize that the season is probably done or almost done for the year, but are there any events held around central Illinois?

I remember back in the early to mid 80's going to the hill climb at Detweiller Park and a parking lot event or two at ICC, but then I got into the straight line stuff, motorcycles and boats, so I lost track of that crowd.

Might be time for a new massive killer of free time.....

CCSCC--they hold events in Rantoul, and occasionally Mossville. BMW club (Illini Chapter) was running at Mossville for awhile too, but I moved from BloNo/Peoria in 2015, so I've been out of the loop.

Are you familiar with Cicenet (Sissynet)?

EDIT: Looks like a certain internet famous Rotary MG will be there.

In reply to mtn :

I am not familiar with it. I will check it out.

Mossville would be great, about 30 minutes from my house. Rantoul's about 90 minutes, so not bad at all.

I would just be a spectator, but I think it would make for a fun way to spend a day.

Thank you for the info!

If you will be arriving via a car, participating would be an even more fun way to spend the day.

My daily is a bone stock Ram shortbed Hemi with a posi. I imagine I would spend my time sideways and backwards collecting orange things at an alarming rate. Probably at the rate of being invited to go away by the poor souls tasked with redistributing the cones after I collect them all!

I am going to try to make one of the November dates. That would give me the winter to browse the for sale ads......

If I can make it to one of the November dates, you're welcome to co-drive with me in the Miata.

Thank you and let's keep in touch!

Will do. No promises I can even make it though, and warning that the car isn't setup right--mostly due to a lack of appropriate tires.

If you come in November you guys can borrow the Rivals and wheels that were on the Miata when I bought it.  I should be at the Saturday November event so we can just take them off the MG (they are the street/HPDE tires for the MG) and put them on the Miata. Best part is we know they fit!

If you make it in October on Sunday you can get a ride along in the MG.  The local club is great about ride alongs and codrives.  Lots of people from Peoria and Bloomington come.

No pressure on my end. And with my lack of experience, I wouldn't know a proper setup anyway!

Wow!

Thank you for the offers!

I was just hoping for a bit of info. I am blown away again by the fantastic community that is GRM!

The October weekend is my wife's and my anniversary, but I mentioned to her earlier tonight about the possibility of attending one of these events and she actually seemed excited about it. Wouldn't be a bad getaway for us.

After selling our cruiser (boat) a few weeks ago, I mentioned jokingly returning to drag racing.

I think that was the only time she has said F#@& NO! and we've been together since 1988.

CCSCC is a really awesome club, and I really miss their events. Hopefully in a couple years I'll have the Vette to a point it'll be worthwhile to drag up there.

Milwaukee's not that far. About 3 hours.

Definitely plan to make at least 1 event before the snow flies!

Still wrapping up loose ends with the boat sale/boat club responsibilities and prior obligations, but looking forward to experiencing some new territory and certainly meeting some of the GRM'ers in person! And SWMBO is interested as well, so that is certainly a bonus!

Sometimes we have had snow fly at the November events.

Great River Region hosts autocross in the Quad Cities area, though this may be a bit far for you. I think they're done for the year already though. www.sccagrr.com

You could also go check out rallycross. St Louis region has one 10/29 and 11/12 at Gateway Park . You can find more on their Facebook page.

In reply to FooBag :

The quad cities isn't a bad drive, actually better than Milwaukee and I wouldn't have to deal with the mess of traffic that is the greater Chicago area.

Thanks again for all the info and looking forward to making it to an event yet this year.

Oh, I just realized we never mentioned Chicago. They still have two events left on Oct 28 and 29; they run in Joliet. Still highly recommend CCSCC for a first timer though. Chicago can be more intimidating.

That's what I remember.  Starting out in Chicago was fine too, and great people were in all of the clubs.  But clubs like Chicago and Milwaukee that need to be capable of getting 170+ drivers through 6 runs is a challenge that necessarily requires things to run a certain way.  Having on the order of 1/3 as many drivers, CCSCC events were considerably more relaxed in operation, schedule, and atmosphere.

Well, life has gotten in the way and SWMBO, although she is onboard for attending events, has informed me that we are booked for the next 5 weekends,

I am exited for next season, and grateful for the offers and information shared.

We will be at an event come springtime!

Thanks to all!
