It occurs to me that we are racing cars we love, Miatas, BMW's and taking them off the road... I say we preserve the remaing cars out there that we like and start racing the ones that could stand getting banged up a bit...

Spec Ford/Chevy/GMC/Dodge full-size truck series. Like NASCAR Truck, only with beaters.

I have been thinking Spec P-71 would be great. They're widely available, cheap, and durable. Parts are cheap and plentiful. From what I've read, they're not too different in performance from year to year.

Spec Aztec drivers should be required to maintain a BAC of .15 or higher, you know, to keep it interesting.

Spec Aztek should be in the dirt.

Only if it's this type of racing. Banger Racing Aztecs would be of good use at this.

We already designed Spec Camry here on the boards last year some time. I was ready to go for it.

Spec Aztek would have almost as many rollovers as a Reliant Robin convention. I would go so far as to say that would be the primary criteria for winning - managing to keep it shiny side up for the entire race.

The problem with a spec series based on a car we don't like it that most of those cars are hard to come by in shift-for-yourself guise.

Still, DoctorBlade's spec full-size pickup series would be worth it even with slushboxes. Hell, if you required six cylinder motors you could find plenty of stick shifts anyway.

I've been thinking of a Mid-Size spec. Camry, Accord, Altima, Sonata, Optima, etc. All-4 Cyl cars, all manual transmissions. I think it's really feasible. It would be easy to score parts.

Spec Escort! They're cheap, nobody likes them, and you can have them with a man pedal pretty easily!

Oh, and 1.9s only.

You've got it backward.

You have to roll over AT LEAST ONCE to be eligible to win!

LOL, so basically everyone would sit in the pits and work on their cars for an hour, give up, drink some beer, and race each other around the track on foot, because it's faster...

The problem is scoring manual transmissions in this class of car. They are probably 10 to 1 in the minority. I say mount a big transmission cooler and run the automatics.

Loser of the footrace gets his car cannibalized for parts. Winner of the foot race gets first choice. Then the real race starts. First car to start wins.
