So Now the the issue with the clutch has been resolved, I'm aiming to get the car licensed and on the road monday or tuesday. Today I double checked my work and checked the timing belt tension. Also I noticed the car would running odd so i decided to check the Thermostat. Well I would have if there had been one in there!! I installed a 180 Degree Tstat, bled the system and its seems to run considerably better than before, even better now that the T-stat is there and the Ghetto rigged Temp sending unit for an apillar pod gauge isn't consuming the fan switch location.... Also I got a socketed ECU on the way for my ECU and $60. and a guy sent me a Basemap of a GSR with a 4700 RPM Vtec Engagement, No Knock Sensor, 7500RPM Rev Limit. From What I've been told I'm gonna see quite a bump in power with this arrangement. I'm pretty stoked. Also the trans bracket on the pass side frame rail was missing a bolt and was causing LOTS of driveline slop. Basically waiting on my ECU and Chip to get here. Wish me Luck!

Invest in a chip burner and get a real B20Vtec map on there. The GSR map will be an improvement, but there's still lots of room to go.

I think that Vtec engagement is too low, as well.

What tranny is on this thing again?

If you want the biggest bang for your buck, you'll want to track down a GSR tranny, get the vtec engagement to around 5200rpms with a real B20Vtec map.

This thing should have some SERIOUS pep to it with that setup.

I'm def down to get a Moates Burn2 Burner. I gotta find a good B20Vtec Map to load on it. For the transmission, I'm not sure what it is honestly as there are no tags on it, So I'm assuming its either an LS or GSR. It seems ro run stronger with a thermostat in it, it pulls pretty hard the way it is, I can imagine what I have in store... Next those 185-70-14's gotta go!!!!

What RPMs are you turning on at highway speeds? It's probably an LS tranny. Honda guys tend to cheap out on the tranny and completely neuter the strong engines that they put together.

no speed works, Tach, Engine Temp do not. I think it needs a dash harness. It had a Monster Tach it it, but i think it looks corny... LOL

I think the PO fried it as I saw 3 wires melted together from mis wiring. I'll fix that later ;)

So my chip arrived Saturday and the ECU is comin by my friend Dakota in the morning. If everything goes as planned it'll be legal tomorrow! How much of a bump am I gonna see roughly from between a stock p28 and a socketed p28 with a p72 basemap?

Ehhh... that basemap's been messed with, so it's not a stock GSR map. Hard to say. If it's a good map, you'll probably see another 20hp or so. If it's a GREAT map, maybe 30.

The biggest jump is going to be with functioning vtec, though. This thing should SCREAM around 5000rpms.

The money shot is going to come when you get a real B20Vtec map on that thing.

know where I can find a real B20Vtec map? The only ones I could find are boosted, large injectors, etc...

Let me ask my buddy who had the 13.5:1 compression built LSVtec, he's a little more current in the Honda world than i am. I'll get back to this thread as soon as i can.

It's just a stock B20 block bolted to a B16 head, right? No funny business with cams or anything?

Can you check the block stamp and tell me exactly what the code is? I need to know if it's a B20Z or not.

Its a JDM B20B block. As far as i know its all stock Honda parts the only "add on" is a warm air intake.

Ok, so that's likely the lower compression block, hard to tell with the JDM B20s.

My buddy is looking now. I checked xenocron, but there's not much for "normal" maps on there.

Alright... i'm having some issues finding a free decent B20 vtec basemap right now, but i'll keep looking.

Here's two other options, though:

1) Run an ITR base map. Those should be easier to find.

2) http://www.phearable.net/shoppingcart/phearablenet-custom-obd1-eprom-chip-basemap-p-60.html

Just fill out the form, pay $35, and enjoy. I've used them in the past, and i've been pretty happy with them. For a "stock" setup like what you've got, this should be a nice way to go, especially since you've already got the chipped ECU.

well it seems to run better, but i went to the tax collector today to get the tag. Much to my amazement/disbelief they want $380 to get it tagged. I'm ready to go back to WV!!! I gotta wait a couple weeks to get it tagged.

I think its an LS trans. At 55 its turning 2500rpm in 5th gear. Should do well on mileage!

Oh yeah... that's DEFINITELY an LS trans.

I would still swap it if/when you get a chance. The GSR transmission on this thing will give it a new lease on life, and it should still return 30mpg anyways.

It'll probably just end up being mildly entertaining with the LS trans. With the GSR, it'll be a car that will full out make you go WEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
