Okay so I've got the quirks worked out of the Capri, and now looking to do some improvements. Right now its 100% stock other than new wires, plugs, and the bottom 1/2 of the airbox opened up. What would be your recommendation for next mod in order? (K&N drop in vs HKS Open Filter), Exhaust ( 2 1/4 or 2.5), Boost controller, Chipped ECU, Intercooler (ebay with piping or mx-6) I'd like to get the car to 180-200hp just to heckle my brothers 93 SHO with... Also Anyone know if there'd be much to gain with a mx-6 Turbo swap (Capri has VJ14 vs mx6 VJ11) Also heard of ppl swappin a t-bird compressor and housing? Input anyone? Later on a BPT swap may be in order as funds allow.

The factory MX6 turbo is good to about 230whp on the F2T, which has 0.6 litres more displacement. I'm not sure if that would be a worthwhile upgrade, it's pretty small.

The T-bird... maybe.

Can you get ahold of a BPT GTR turbo? Or try a VF10 with the MX6 exhaust housing.

As for order of next upgrades... I'd do HKS open filter, 2.5" exhaust, intercooler, chipped ECU, boost controller in that order. Move the chipped ECU up the ladder if you get boost cut with just the breathing mods.

I modded my B6t on the one I put in a festiva.

The stock airbox is quite restrictive, so I'd put a cone filter on, then isolate it with some sheet metal. Next most restrictive thing is the turbo outlet/downpipe, especially the upper part as it comes out of the turbo. Get a better downpipe. Corksport sells one with a divorced wastegate that is very similar to the one I made for this engine.

I had a chip from Road Race engineering, but I think you can get a similar one from Corksport, or Reich racing now. They are pretty much the same, basically provides fueling for up to ~15psi on pump gas. (more then the stock turbo is capable of)

Go with a 2 1/2 inch exhaust with free flow mufflers, then a manual boost controller will take it up to about 12psi. After that the turbo is the next biggest restriction as the stock one will be over worked at anything over 12psi.

The Mx6/ford probe intercooler is an upgrade, and will use the same hoses 28rows instead of 18 if I remember correctly and it flows better as well. It also fits the area and is cheap on ebay.

Be sure to unplug the boost cut, it is a small item in the engine compartment, refer to a manual to find it.

I'd go with the NGK extended reach spark plugs that you would use in a turboed Miata. Also you may want to upgrade the fuel pump to a Walbro to keep up with the fueling.

All this with the stock turbo still, running around 12psi should net you in the neighborhood of ~180hp at the wheels. Upgrade the turbo, and run 15psi and you will be around the 200hp mark.

I'd say because I'm a festiva fan, but I'd ditch the Capri and pop the B6T into a festiva, then you won't have to make as much hp. but thats just me. good luck Chris Rummel
