Posting this here and on VWVortex as I know there are many of you who have done BigApple to BigEasy Rally in the past, and who want to do it in the future, so I thought I'd put a quick announcement up. BABE2009 is now taking registrations!

There are a few changes this year.

  1. $500 cars. We've upped the car acquisition cost this year to $500 to give teams a better chance of getting a vehicle as the scrap value is quite high at the moment, and plus it will give teams a better chance of finding the car they want, than the one they end up with.

  2. There is now a 1996 cut off date for vehicle age. Cars built in 1996 and older are eligible. Cars built in 1997 or earlier are ineligible.

  3. American Iron Class for masochists.

  4. Dates are 1st June to 5th June 2009. We are running over 5 days instead of 4. There will be an extra day of driving hell somewhere in northern Alabama. We're looking for unpaved roads lol.

Entry fee remains the same at $250 (for the fourth year) until 31st January 2009. It then increases to $300 until 30th April 2009. Deadlines this year will be enforced.

Just to be clear: You mean cars Older than 1996.

Right? (Or am I getting this wrong?)

Based on pictures from your previous events, it looks like all the cars were pre-1996 or so.

It states that 1997 will not be allowed. The newest that you can bring is 1996.

yep, 1996 and older. But really shoot for the American Iron class and find a 1979 or older american tank for the fun ;)
