So bored here on a lunch break, browsing the local classifieds, and I find this.
I'm pretty sure that's the worst attempt at a GTO clone I've ever seen. The GTO from 68-on had the rubber bumpers, where the Tempest had chrome. Someone didn't know any better and slapped GTO badges on the front and rear and is selling it at more.
Not a terrible car, but since it's not real, it's worth maybe $3500, tops.
It's a Tempest or a Lemans with Oldsmobile wheels, a GTO hood and GTO badges. The hood is worth a few bucks as they're somewhat hard to find in good shape.
Yeah definitely a bad clone. The Tempest and LeMans had chrome metal grille and bumpers while the GTO had the Enduro grille and bumpers.

And while we're on the subject, wasn't 1970 the year when GM finally got off the dime and put 455s in the intermediates (454s if they were Chevelles)? If so, the guy's 400 engine claim doesn't quite make the grade.

They were still available with a 400.
i wonder if this guy even knows that it isn't a real GTO? he might have paid GTO money for it not really knowing what it was, and now he thinks he should get GTO money for it..

Yeah, I believe the standard GTO was a 400 with an optional 428, and the base Judge was a 428 with an optional 455. Either way, that ain't a Goat.
[edit] Displacement fail - I doubt they came with a Ford engine.
The 68 or 69 (or both) could be had with a chrome bumper although the vast majority came with the endura bumper.

bumper could be replaced, or like spitfirebill said an option delete. IF it's an endura delete car that alone would make it rare. Need to order PHS docs to be sure.
Open the trunk. $10 says it won't stay open on its own. The GTO had stronger trunk lid tension rods to accommodate the wing. Nobody ever changes those out.
