There was a day about 12 years ago when I still lived at home with my parents where we had 7 vehicles go down on the same day between myself, my parents, my siblings and a friend.
The entire freaking day was spent shuttling around to rescue stranded people or to buy parts.
It was like a triage center, we'd patch up one car and the call would be coming in to get the next one.
We got em all running by the end of that day. I have faith that you'll persevere too, but it'll suck.
Mama said there'd be days like this.
I've heard of a fair number of fuel pump failures in recent years. I speculate that this may have something to do with the increasing use of ethanol in fuel, which I believe has lower lubricity than gasoline. Given that these pumps rely on fuel as a lubricant, the older ones (pre-widespread ethanol) may be suffering from less-than-expected lubrication. It's only a theory, but it wouldn't surprise me.
For cars of that era, I've made it a practice to add a bit of good old Marvel's Mystery Oil to the tank every now and again. Probably just makes me feel better, but it hasn't hurt anything that I'm aware of.
My worst wasn't that bad. Had one dead battery finish off a weak battery when I tried to jump start one with the other. One immobile car turned into two just like that, long before Uber existed.
Wow 7 in one day would be mind boggling. Im just glad I always have a vehicle to use(knock on wood) when one goes down. I really cant complain bout the buck, paid 300 1 1/2 yrs ago and im only 300 in it for repairs. Worst part is I just fillef tank day before it went out. I agree ethanol has been bad since introduced, my old 240sx started having issues when it came out.
