First, hello from Bike Week. Am I out there with the sleeveless masses? Heck no. But even though we're about 2 miles away from US-1, I can hear them. It's a low roar punctuated by sirens.
Anyway, just got a press release about the new Bagger Racing League, complete with video.
So, do we love it? Or is that like hosting foot races for those who prefer to wear boots. (Run in sneakers? That's crazy talk.)
Anyway, discuss.
I'm always on board when it comes to racing things that aren't normally raced.
Does this mean that I can buy a sleeveless racing suit?
In reply to Colin Wood :
I'm thinking that you have to.
No, but a dew rag is mandatory.
Can I run my KTM 1290 or BMW k1200s? Both have side cases.
If they don't allow Moto Guzzis in the series then I ain't watchin'....
I'm not suggesting unfair blocking on track, but if it's like real life, you won't get by and they won't speed up.
Yes, I would watch it; at least once.

It's like trying to make a thoroughbred out of a dairy cow.
I can get behind this.

How 'bout a Kawi H2SX... it's got bags?
Probably the only sanctioning body that will scold you for using too much safety equipment.
"Sorry sir/madam, your full face helmet and leathers are not regulation, we're going to have to ask you to remove those. There is a stack of xxxl Hooters tee shirts at the registration tent available for loan, we've even removed the sleeves for you already."
I'd still watch. It is kind of impressive getting behind one of these things hustling through the twisties on the rare occasion you find someone that actually knows how to ride one.
actually, I watched the last race of the 2020 season at Laguna Seca on Youtube. Those guys aren't screwing around considering how much their bikes weigh. It's sorta like early NASCAR having to start with something really heavy and underpowered that doesn't handle well...

Just not the same without chaps and a "get back" whip.

In reply to stroker :
Some of them were even boosted to get to that level of underpowered.
No use for this. I get the impression there are crazy amazing builds trying to make a pig's ear that's almost as fast as a slow silk purse for four times the money, which IMHO is even dumber than just racing basic ears in a world with silk purses that cost less.
I try not to be that guy who's down on other people's motorsport choices, but sometimes it seems like they're just testing me.
In reply to ProDarwin :
That was a great example of looking ahead
Is this the CAM of motorcycle racing?
In reply to maschinenbau (I live here) :
More Race of Gentlemen. Nothing modern that makes actual power is allowed.

If it's got wheels, they'll race it. Look at donk racing.
In reply to ProDarwin :
I used to do well in bike games, but that vid is over the top, hours and hours of practice.
I wonder how long his clutch lasts!
Twenty or so years ago, they had a class for Sportsters, I think. Slow as hell, lots of dragging foot pegs, but entertaining. A bit like watching stock cars on a road course used to be.
