We have two more drivers and they are working on a Challenge sponsored by RideTech. Doug and Scott are in a 78 Trans Am, and we were shocked to find it doesn't have a CB...

I guess the mobile wi-fi and iPad make a good substitute.

Did you know you could get a factory-installed AM-FM-CB tri-band radio in those when they were new? True story.

NO CB? That's heresy, sacrilege, or both.

Still, I love a black and gold Trans-Am.

I just remembered...

I actually have a vintage late 70's CB kicking around that my dad had installed in his land-yacht 1970 Olds 98 convertible. I should probably install that in my 1979 Trans Am at some point.

You mean like this SilverFleet?

I had to take a break from running the event long enough to run to the basement and show off the original radio from my own 1978 Formula Firebird...

In reply to RoadTourExpress:

Yep!

Didn't realize you had one of these too. There are a few of us 2nd gen Firebird owners over here.

Yep, I'm a Pontiac geek. I was 6 when Smokey and the Bandit came out, and my grandfather was the sales manager at the local Pontiac dealer... I didn't stand a chance.

Other Pontiacs I've owned: 2000-2004 - 59 Safari Wagon (my only mode of transportation for 4 years) 1996-1999 - 88 Fiero GT currently - 61 Tempest (in progress for the last 2 years - being fitted with an ecotec and a winters magnesium mini quick change rear)

I also own a 90 Miata and an RX8

My friends parents had a Caprice Classic with the CB option as well.

Another Pontiac guy here. I've been driving them for 40 years; I don't have a T/A (although I wouldn't mind finding a 70-73 some day) but I do have a '61 Bonneville and have owned various others over the years.

I'm a real sucker for BIG ol' pontiacs. I've been watching the guy on ebay try to sell the same 59 convert for the last several months... it has got as high as $116000 and still didn't meet the reserve.

I ask on our Facebook page, Is there any other single car that is more "hollywood" than this?
