In reply to t25torx: There are a couple of low hp sports cars that are also getting in your price range, a few NC Miatas and early Porsche Boxsters. The NC is down on power, but is a more fun car than a C4, and the Boxster has tons of reliability issues. Also, RX-8s are well in this price range too, and you could buy one with a bad engine and get a rebuilt one installed for 6-7K, too. I would only buy a Boxster to do a WRX or some other engine swap after reading the mags write-up about what to look out for.
I daily drove a '92 6-speed for almost two years. I loved it. I'm 6'4", ~180 lbs, so not wide at all. I could see it being an issue for wider people, but I never had an issue getting in and out, and I LOVED the driving position. Now, being 6'4" I was very limited on being able to wear a helmet in it, which was the ultimate demise of the 92 and got myself an 02 Z06, which had a lot more helmet room.
Now, if I were making a more trackable car, you can drop the seats about 2" to make room with a manual slider and a race oriented seat, run a roll bar, and remove the targa top mechanism cover, which is what gets in the way of the helmet, and probably be alright.
I would 100% buy another one.
