I just saw that a 1974 Pinto went for over $18,000 at Barrett-Jackson. That's right, eighteen thousand dollars. Damn.
What else have you seen that blows your mind?

A Yenko Stinger sold a Mecum this last week for $200,000. I am not adding any unnecessary zeros on that. That’s the most one has ever sold for.

It was worth every penny. The owner knew what he had.
Plus it ran when parked and he wasn’t talking to low ballers.
Here's a link to the car's description: https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1974-FORD-PINTO-HATCHBACK-224920 It is a very low mileage example in what appears to be mint condition, as with any car those things will increase the selling price.

That's why I like nights like today, tomorrow and even Thursday. Far less of the endless parade of muscle cars, much better variety.

And free drinks increase the bidding :)
One thing to remember is that $100 in 1970 is worth $650 in today's buying $$$$.
So if the seller was the original buyer (doubtful) .he got his original investment back !

Worth more than a C5Z every day of the week baby
Alright people are smoking crack. Saw this on FB.
A 110, Powerglide Corvair. You have to be E36 M3ting me.
Weeknights at B-J or Mecum seem to be regular car guy nights at the auction where ya can get a decent, nice driver for under $20K, sometimes $12-15K. You can't build it for that. I've been tempted to attend Mecum at Harrisburg just to spectate... and maybe bring a trailer.
Weekend auction nights been nutso-crazy w/ selling prices, way outta my league. I used to think it was stupid, but hey, if it's your thing and ya got money to burn it's on your nickel. SEMA builds used to be another WTF. I don't begrudge anyone anymore for what they build, own or want to own, ricers to bro-dozers... might as well add autocrossers ftm.
It's your berkeleying nickel.
$40,000 for an FJ-40 Land Cruiser on BJ. I paid $1,300 for a near-mint one about 1990 .
Still kicking myself for that one.
I always said it's like a car show on TV. Is it my first choice? No. But it's January, there's nothing else car related on TV and I don't want to be outside any longer than necessary.
In reply to BoostedBrandon :
Pluto TV ahs 3 car channels. Lots of documentaries and some older shows.

Yes. I joke about them and unquestionably do get bored with the endless parade of '60s muscle cars since they really aren't my style. However, I'm a car guy. I like all kinds of cars...from Model Ts to the newest supercar. I enjoy just seeing all the different cars and hearing about them. I don't really care much about all the fanfare BJ does, it's just how they do what they do. Besides, can you blame 'em? If they can get someone to bid $18k for a Pinto, more power to them.
This year seems to be more of a "Truckathon" than ever. Every other vehicle is a truck. Just like our every day reality.

Yeah... but now there's YouTube...
Every since a stock Fairmont wagon sold for 28k and made everyone think there rusty beater is worth 4k plus I've hated auctions then I learned it's not my money so I'll flip too them when bored. I skip the weekends because even as a muscle car guy you can only watch so many first gen Camaro, mustang's and hemi cars being sold
