Combined sedans race just finishing :)
Yeah I love that they cover the support series, too. That's where a lot of the real fun is.
Anyone have a schedule of events? Or a start time? Has it already started? Is it yesterday there yet?

Is that the one that scattered its engine all over the track?

It's in iRacing and a few other racing games. It's DIFFICULT to put together one clean lap by yourself, much less multiple laps with other drivers.
It was a great race. BMW’s 1-2 finish was epic, and Rossi fighting back from a penalty made it even more intense.
It was a good race! There was always some kind of entertaining action happening, and it's an epic track.
I went to a local PCA event where Patrick Long spoke, and he talked about racing at Bathhurst. He said it's a difficult track, because of the mountain section - it's really technical and unforgiving. But the worst is the Kangaroos! He said during the race it's not so bad because there are enough people all around the track and enough traffic to scare them away from crossing the track, but for testing it's another matter. There are 'roo fences that are supposed to keep them out, but they somehow get onto the track anyway. Since the part of the track that they tend to get onto is the fast straights, hitting a large 'roo can be a very serious thing. The thing is, the crew will radio the driver to warn him that there's a 'roo next to the fence, so you need to be ready, but you are still expected to keep your foot down. The fastest parts of the track have hills that are steep enough that you can't see what is on the other side, so he found it very stressfull.
It was a great race. Enough action that every time I was able to tune in for a bit there was something cool going on and it was pretty easy to get caught up on what I missed.
I do wonder why GT4 numbers are so low, though. I would imagine that many of the teams running GT3 cars also manage the GT4 cars, so the infrastructure is already in place.
This was a great race to watch. I fell asleep before the final hour but the top five battles were epic (read the recap in the morning). Aggressive close racing, and the fuel strategy component made for a very interesting race.
I had it on in the background on and off throughout the day and thought they did a really good job of having periodic recaps so I knew what I missed. Given that IMSA just fielded over 60 cars, it was kind of disappointing to see so few cars there, relatively. One of my favorites is always Heart of Racing and it was really weird seeing a Mercedes AMG running with car number 27 on it. Whenever it was on screen and they were talking about it I'd stare at my TV waiting for the focus of the camera to change to an Aston Martin.

It did seem like a small field, although it was only 20 cars in 2023 and 23 cars in 2024. This year had 23.
2019 saw 43 cars but there were a lot of locals and weirdos (Ginettas, MARC cars, multiple KTM) as well as a whole whack more Porsches. Has this change been reflected in FIA WEC as a whole? I don't follow the series, only this race.
Looks like Genesis treated folks to a running/driving version of the X Gran Berlinetta Concept (and the Magma GV60).
(And don't panic; the first 40 seconds or so of the video don't have sound.)
