Unless you're looking to upgrade you could probably find someone's takeout radio. Although I have seen some nice double din installs.

I'll look into it, but I've never been impressed with this unit. Reception is poor, the power is scratchy and distorted, and no Aux input.
Hey Jav, One of these popped up locally for a decent price in Sport trim with a stick. Do you know/have you heard of people swapping the Sport trim seats out for the heated ones from a Grand Touring model?

It clunks around like a robot orgy in there, so I'm assuming the actual CD changer part is what's biting the dust. Time to search replacements on Crutchfield, this won't be cheap :(
Weird: I don't think we've actually used the CD player on ours. Apparently it holds multiple CD's(?)

I've looked into it for mine, supposedly it's plug and play for the seats but you'll need to wire in your own toggle switches. The seats aren't terribly expensive on ebay but I'm waiting for some local ones to fall into my lap..
I've had my '10 5 Sport for a week now and I really dig this thing and its really fun to drive. Only downside is its a thirsty little bugger. My first tank was only 23.5 mpg and that was driving it like a non-crazy person. I'd like at least 25 mpg. Any tips on getting better fuel economy with a 5?
In reply to 92dxman:
Roof rack on? What tires? What gas are you using? 23.5 would be a normal city-only all stop-and-go tank. How many miles?
Ended up pulling the trigger on the 5 at the dealer today, despite the best of intentions. I've now got an 07 5 Sport sitting in our driveway. Here's hoping for years of good service from it, like we got from the Focus that preceded it.
anyone have any rust issues? storys of rust on 5's that are just a few years old are really holding me back from pulling the trigger on one
Mine does not have any rust, but I did look at one a year ago that had some starting around the rear wheel arches. That example had 120k miles, was an 06 model, and there were several other signs the owner had used it hard and put it away wet. It was, of course, a Southeast Michigan car.

And here I thought I had to buy a Miata to be one of the cool kids!

Last trip to Tampa & back was 22 on the button w/cruise set at 80. Still on break-in though. We'll see how she does on the next trip in a couple weeks.
In reply to Javelin:
No roof rack. It has Uniroyal Paw GTZ (?) all season tires on it. I use 87 octane and it has about 56,500 miles on it. I try to shift gears around 2-2.5k rpm also and coast into stop lights and try to go easy with braking.
Accordingly to Fuelly, I averaged 23.8 MPG over the 15,000 miles I tracked. That's mixed city driving and bonzai highway runs. Driving slower would help, but why would I have bought a racevan if I wanted to drive slow?
Filled up today. I put most of the miles on this tank, my commute is 50 miles round trip, most of which is on the highway, but a large percentage of that is stop-and-go rush hour traffic. 28.something.
if you guys are looking for a way to get an auxilary line in on your factory stereos I just put one of these in my brothers 3. only took a half hour to install, works great. literally plug and play.

I creep on this thread a lot. I dont have a 5 but its a top contender for when I need to get something a little bigger than a hyundai accent. I like the cx5 but newer = more payments = higher property taxes = higher insurance = better mpg and I am not sure all that balances out.
I REALLY want to find one of these to replace my old CR-V, but they are hard to come by around here. Plus I'm trying to find one with under 100k miles, $8k or less, automatic, so I think I might be dreaming a little. There is only 1 "By Owner" Mazda5 on local Craigslist right now though, so they are definitely not common.
Do both rows of seats fold down, or come out? I was thinking of swapping my boring 2002 Camry for a Mazda5 so I can tote more crap (until I get my truck running). Just how bad is it with an slushbox?
In reply to sethmeister4:
The autos hold their value, the stick ones are the ones with the crazy depreciation.
In reply to slefain:
Both rows fold down, none come out. They fold totally flat, though there's still some gaps here and there. The 2.3 autos aren't great, the post-facelift 2.5's have more gears and more torque, much better with the slushbox.
