I'm thinking about buying Bend Tech. Not necessarily because I have something I want to build, but more so to create an archive of old racecar chassis measurements (Porsche 906, 910, etc). I've been measuring and drawing the chassis sections and that proved hard to keep 3D objects organized in 2D. Then I made a 1/4 scale model from dowels, but I can't store them and they're breakable.

So, it appears that Bend Tech is a good solution. Anyone have/use this software. At $275, I could buy a lot of paper and dowels instead. Is it easy/worth it? Anyone have a demo?

I own EZ 3D, used it extensively with our air/hydro converted JD2 at my old job. Modeled everything in SW and used those models to get bend instructions via Bend Tech. I've not personally used it for say automotive stuff, and I do not think that the EZ version is what you want to use for modeling an entire chassis. You could do that in Google Sketch Up and it's free. I've got a good friend with an older Bend Tech Pro version, a manual JD2, and a MM252 that has a very successful "side job" of putting jungle gyms together in Jeeps, buggies, etc.

Talk with Fabcam over on Pirate4x4.com, he'll tell you all you want to know and then some, he'll steer you right, their customer service is unparalleled. Good folks, and good software.
