I'm never going to get this stupid car finished!

Yes, 89 Civic LX 1.5. It's my special needs coworker's "new" car that I stupidly agreed to do the head gasket on because I'm not a shiny happy person. The really poor quality distributor that I rebuilt with new quality internals either had a crap casting or was dropped. I heard a pop when I was cranking it over and went to investigate. It was still in there but I saw a crack. Ugh.
Keep in mind the nobility of your actions; 'tis I think a general reflection of the quality of the gang on this board.
Hey, it might've cracked next week and caused an accident...maybe you were meant to find and fix it.

I was gonna say buy me a drink or two and ask how big the 'stache was these days.
I agree with JFX001. If that had broken loose at a busy intersection or somewhere out on the road, it would be a much bigger and more expensive problem to fix. You've saved the day!
Having broken a lot of stuff in my day, im pretty sure that didn't 'just happen'.
On the plus side, though, it wont really stop it from working, either. My dad's mitsubishi has a broken distributor in the same way due to me using an improper o-ring on it (long story which may actually be relevant) and it is still working fine as his DD @ 262k.
Bam! All done, runs great. Berking finally. The "original" distributor had poor casting quality and had cracks all over. Popped a new dizzy in and it fired right up. A/C even blows ice cold.
