My condolences to his family and friends. Cancer is a dick.

Researching Boxsters on this board the other day, I noticed that a lot of the good info came from him. Sometimes people don't realize how a little thing like putting a few helpful tidbits on the internet may impact someone far away that they will never meet.

Just a brief description of who they were and maybe a couple pictures of some projects they were working on and a link to their board posts. RIP M030 Curmudgeon WBjones JHaas And the others that I'm forgetting at the moment.

DoctorBlade is another...all from some form of cancer. Seems to be the leading cause of death on this board.

So sad to hear the news. He was, indeed, one of the good'uns on here.

Speaking of which, anyone else ever happen upon an old post from one of our departed friends, and end up clicking through to their profile to read some of their other posts? I admit, I've paid Walter and Curmudgeon a couple of visits like that. It usually feels sad going in, but I end up smiling just a few clicks later.

In reply to Marjorie Suddard:

I was doing that last night with Brian's. I have several from Walter bookmarked as he, along with so many others on here, really helped me get through some of the roughest moments that I faced in my own battle. I think that you'll approve of the livery concept that's in discussion.

We he also a younger guy & built some hotrod/custom cars? I remember a linked newspaper article when that member passed several years ago.

Would the forum software allow some type of "memorial" list for all those we've lost over the years?

Yep, he was young and full of eVil knowledge. As for the memorial list, we could do a sub-forum, but that seems kinda like a cemetery--away off from the living, rather than what we have now, which is them kind of wound up in our regular posts and daily business.

None of us knows how long we will be here, but it is especially sad to see someone like Brian, with a young family, leave this world so early. Obviously, he also leaves behind a great community of friends here. I thought we would have cancer cured by now, along with diabetes. But they both seem more prevalent than ever.

How about a sticky in the off-topic section, could be kept locked until one of the mods has confirmed info to add.

I get a bit of a lump when once in awhile pigeon's M3 pops up in the Reader's Ride side panel.

I'm lucky enough to have a bit of Curmudgeon to remember in the form of the GT6 front brake parts I bought from him and were delivered by Gary to me at Carlisle a few years ago. They were going on my ex's Spit, but now they will go on mine.

For whatever it's worth, the TDiClub forums (which also tends to have an older than average user group) has a "In Memory" section.

Swarfalot was Garrett as I remember. He would come by and we would go for rides in his 944. Lots of times sideways...

I had no idea we had lost so many people. It has also dawned on me that I do not personally know anybody that posts here regularly. I hate I never got to meet Curmudgeon. We had a few private messages off the site and I sent him a part he needed just before he passed. We only lived a couple of hours apart and he had talked about retiring up closer to where I live. I hate I did not buy his Hodaka at the ridiculously low price he offered it to me for.

Oops, thanks Stan. I have a hard time sometimes separating the screen names from the people names. And guys, we'll talk amongst ourselves about how to do an "In Memory" section.

E36 M3. I am now in tears at my desk. good job i can close the door.

I am so so sorry for Brian and his friends and family.

I am just sick of cancer. i was amazed to hear on the radio the other day that heart disease is still the #1 killer in this country. I only know one person who has gone from that, but I've been loosing friends at the rate or 2-4 a year ranging from 7 to late 50's from effing cancer for the last few years.

Damn, sorry for all. I'm going to hide in a hole now.

Well I took the day off once my meeting was over. I went to the phone store and got a new phone. I then went to the used guitar store and spent the afternoon just trying different guitars. Just needed some alone time.
