I just bought an older Amod car that is powered by a bike engine. Soon I will be doing a motor swap and liked your custom gearbox. Reverse would be nice to have. I am a machinist so making it wouldn't be a problem. I was wondering if there was any plans for that box or did you make it as you went. If there were plans could I buy a set. Any help would be nice. A company called Jaxport used to sell a reverser box for bike motors. It bolted to the drive shaft adapter used on dwarf car.
Yea, the reversing set up on the Berkeley wound up being problematic (think fragged) and we wound up doing away with reverse.

Could you use a BMW or Harley Davidson transmission? These can be frequently found with reverse already installed since they sometimes attach to very large motorcycles that require reverse to be practical.
Gloria MC powered formula race cars use a separate gear and a very small starter motor on the rear housing as a push button electric reverse.
The Goldwing reverse was electric, the last time I checked (could certainly be different now).

Do you have any plans for the gear box. I don't need reverse(it would be nice on hill climbs thou). I liked the design and packaging of it and I think I could use it as a base anyways. Chad
I'll see if Denny has plans, I think it was mostly just done in a notebook. Like a notebook that you use a 'pencil' on.
The real reason for that box was to reverse the rotation of the engine so a motorcycle engine could be used in a FWD car. Not very helpful (or wanted) for a rwd car.

Like I said it was about the packaging. I have a big chain and sprocket going back to a diff with the axles coming off that. With your set-up I could move my engine back even farther to get more weight on the rears. It would also help with the diffuser. Chad

I've seen in the past B&S ring gears attached to the output shaft and electric starter to turn them for rev. Chaep yes...pain in the ass to set up YES...adding flywheel effect on race car...bad
