I got halfway through pressing in some wheel bearing races, and the jack for my Harbor Freight press failed. Apparently the jack alone is out of stock for the foreseeable future at HF, and there are similar ones on Amazon but they seem to have about a 20% immediate failure rate. Other than paying $140 for a new press, are there any decent quality jacks that would work for a replacement for under $75?
Try and replace the o-rings?
I have no idea how difficult it is to do maintenance on a bottle jack. Ther appears to be multiple YouTube vids on it though.
HF does sell o-ring sets BTW.
If you happen to have trouble finding a specific O-ring, try this place that I discovered recently. They are local to me, do all their business via phone/internet, and are very reasonable for small orders. No affiliation, just a really good customer service experience, and for those who have come to know what a disagreeable, hard-to-please old grouch I am, you know they're something special.
