So, I don't know if it's true, but I heard they use the AMC 4.0 (well, four of them) to retract the landing cables on aircraft carriers after the planes yank them up the deck. For me, that puts them on the list right there.

I don't think super car engines need apply. If you can't afford it on a "middle class" income (Whatever that is...) it shouldn't be listed. We're talking grassroots engines. Not rich playboy material

Ive owned a half dozen 4.0 at least, great motors. Edit in reply to bill, so maybe leave off the timing belt redblocks and call the list "cockroach engines, best engines in the world" but the b18/b20 should stay afterall its probably the engine with most documented miles, irv gordans p1800 that I THINK is still original motor, could be wrong but 3million miles is nothing to scoff at

It may be the original motor, but IIRC it's gone through a full rebuild at least 3 times.

Agreed. Base cost has to be less than 100k in 2015 dollars.

sbf and the 300 are both great, i rather enjoy the small 6 (200) in my ford based on strength alone but im not sure it makes near enough power in any of its forms to make a "best" list. i always find these lists overly biased and would make a biased list myself because of prefrences.
