Add hardener to it. It scratches surprisingly easily. It fades in the sun after a while, and chalks bad. Doesn't self level very well in my experience. But. After it cures it wetsands and buffs very well! And is easy to touch up, depending on your standards.
I was planning to finish with 2K clearcoat from Spraymax. Wouldn't that make a difference?

Don't know. Ain't tried that. Sorry.

Ive seen a couple YouTube videos where people have done it with mixed results
If you intend to clear it, use a proper base coat. Otherwise, the color needs to cure and be sanded to get proper adhesion. If you clear immediately after color you may get cloudiness or metallic shifting.
I believe the tractor paint LanEvo is using is a true single stage and from what ive read would be best to buff it for shine, not clear over it but ive never used either, thats just what ive read.
The paint i am using is a system that has its own clear coat, which is what i will use. May not be the best, may only look good for a couple years, but all the stuff i bought is same line from same manufacturer and i will follow their instructions this time.
If this goes well i will dip my toe in Bc/CC next time
Make sure you follow the manufacturers recommendations. The majority of paint problems I have seen over the years are improper mixing or lack of flash time. Good luck.
Well, i didnt ruin anything yet, but i did do something wrong. Or the wind screwed me up. No drips or runs, good even coverage, but
Its rough. 3 coats of color, 3 coats of metallic clear, 3 coats of gloss clear. Only thing i can think of is halfway through the first coat of gloss clear the wind picked up. It was a pretty good breeze with gusts every few minutes. End result is about a 500 grit texture so either i screwed up the metallic clear or should have thinned the gloss or something. Maybe it was just "ma nature"?
Gonna wait until Sat AM and wet sand it with 1200 and try to reclear it
Id try a non metallic clear on the recoat. Then you can buff, as my understanding is that you can't buff a metallic.

Shows how up to date I am! First time I have heard of metallic clear.
So, door handles in black or nah?

Too many layers of clear. You cant just keep piling the stuff up without an increment in orange peel. Color sand the car and you should be fine if the trapped gasses dont end up wrecking the job.
The wind blew my clear into a mist that stuck to the top of surrounding paint. I followed the instructions but i cant control wind. Wet sanded lightly with 1000, let dry, and re shot another coat of clear, diluted to 60/40 clear/acetone and it came out great. Will buff after its plenty cured
I deal with automotive paint and supplies at my new job and people seem to like the 3M spray guns quite a bit but the Sata guns have their following too..
The car above ended up being shot with a HF mid grade gun, but extra care was taken to get it set just right and kept super clean
