My 2008 Siverado 2500HD has standard manual mirrors. I need towing mirrors. I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest solution, or the very best solution. I'm looking for the solution that makes the most sense overall. What say you?

Is there a version of the 2008 Silverado that came with towing mirrors? That would be the most logical solution to me.

My Dodge 2500 has mirrors that pivot so you can flip them between towing (aka "moose mode") and non-towing positions. In moose mode, visibility is excellent.

Something used off a HD 2500 or 3500 is likely your best bet.

Mirrors are popular for getting knocked off and pickups are popular. Check Rockauto or even Amazon for replacements.

The replacement for my Focus came from Amazon. It is an aftermarket reproduction and cheaper than OEM and about the price of used.

I put these on the Expedition when we tow our travel trailer:

Cinch them down nice and tight and they aren't going anywhere, and vibration is minimal. But for the 95% of the time when you're not towing, you just remove them. And they are like $30 for the pair.

I have an '08 Sierra 2500HD. I have factory towing mirrors and they work fine. Your best bet is to get a factory set, that would make the most sense to me.

Rock Auto has both styles available. Both power and manual. Looks like between $80 and $100 each depending on the brand.

Yeah, get the factory mirrors. I have a 2002 Duramax, AFAIK there weren't any factory ones available, so I bought some on ebay. They're pretty much what you'd expect for a cheap, Chinese, ebay mirror. They sort of mostly work, but aren't anywhere close to as good as factory ones would be.

I've seen those and wondered how well they worked as far as staying tight and vibrating. Thanks for sharing your experience.

This is the way I'd like to go, but need to consider the cost. When I bought this truck, I specifically looked for one without all the power stuff, because the Sierra I had before it had a LOT of electrical problems in the doors. But I have to admit that now its quite a pain to have manual windows/door locks/mirrors. The mirrors are less of an issue than the others, because 99% of the time I'm the one driving it, so they don't need adjusted. I've done without towing mirrors with my open trailer, but always planned on doing something with them. Now I'm soon going to be driving 20 hours one way to pick up a race car and 24' enclosed trailer, and want to do this before I leave.

I have the slide-on tow mirrors for my 03 Burb and they work pretty good. A little bit of vibration/movement, but not bad. Towing mirrors would be a better choice, but since my mirrors have dang near every power/heating feature, it wouldn't have been a cheap conversion.

Manual does suck, but these towing mirrors on these trucks are pretty good. I have no clue why they would put 1/2 Ton mirrors on an HD truck, but I like how big these are and the blind spot mirrors help a lot.

I'm towing campers twice a week so, they would be significant for an enclosed trailer.

I have some McKesh towing mirrors I used to use with my Jeep. Once in a while they vibrate a bit, but not too bad and easy to get rid of. Great visibility on them. Easy to remove and install.

It doesn't have 1/2 ton mirrors, it just doesn't have towing mirrors. I ended up buying the towing mirrors from Rock Auto. Thanks to everyone that replied!

Well let us know how it goes.

I guess I didn't realize they came with two types of mirrors, I figured they all had towing mirrors.
