So I'm sitting here with a horked up back from trying to move a front seat out of a Lexus IS. It's one of those fancy fandangled seats with heat/AC/airbags. Turns out it weighs 63lbs. I was trying to move it to a position near the edge of the door where my helper and I could both lift it. But before I could get there, I felt the dreaded 'ping' in my back. I've replayed it a few times and can't see how I could have moved it with a better motion. With the door opening the way it is, you sorta have to lean over to move it. I guess I could resort to a series of ropes tied to the rails??
Anyone have any tricks/tips?

I'm no help, having done exactly the same more times than I can count.
I have thought about a flamethrower, however cooler thoughts prevailed
Not much help, but several years ago I toured the BMW plant in SC. They were building X3s. A robot was installing the front seats through the windshield opening.
Board under seat, two boards on sill to act as levers on board one?
I just R&R'd the front seats in the sonata. They felt every bit that heavy though I didn't weigh them. I just gave them a big ol bear hug and had Ross from that friend's episode saying "pivot" in my head while I wrestled them in and out. Somehow I didn't even scratch up the door panels either.
Nothing specific. Reclining it to near flat and going backwards? Fold down rear seat and slide it out the back. Or maybe reclining "forward" to bring the backrest more over the cushion to make the entire package more compact?

This is a pretty decent idea!
Thanks for all the replies!! As for getting a friend to help, they were actually standing right there. I just planned to move it the 12 inches towards the edge so we could both get our hands on it.
I think I usually start from inside the car. Standing outside the car leaning in is a back injury waiting to happen - or not waiting in this case!
It's a simple 3 step process:
1) Sell the Lexus and buy a Miata
2) Put the top down
3) Lift the seat out the top.
