Without having a blaster?

I need to strip a pair of spindles and do a color change plus a bit of rusting on the exposed surfaces.

Halp?

The "best " way is to submerge them in a drum of methylene chloride. After 5 minutes you can shake the powder coat off like a loogie.

But that stuff is hard to come by and expensive in quantities like that. The next best way is with a paint remover that has methylene chloride as its active ingredient like aircraft remover. Use lots and Keep it wet an stick it in the sunlight. After a bit a wire brush will knock it off.  Don't let it dry out.

Those strippers work by swelling the coating enough to break the bond between the coating and the surface. If you allow the solvents to flash off it will shrink back and re-adhere itself in a more wrinkly fashion

Isn't powdercoat actually a plastic, not a paint?
