Good day!

I need information. I am running a 1978 Chevy Malibu in the LeMons series. I decided to get 17" wheels for teh car to get some better rubber (the 16" wheels had nothing available in the size we wanted).

My problem is the back-spacing is a little different. I knew this before I bought the wheels.

I figured out that I need about .75" spacer in the rear of the car and about .25" in the front. I am not worried about the front. I am concerned about the rear.

Which way would you guys do it (safely!!!)? Can i just run longer wheel studs and spacers? Should I get the kind of spacer that bolts on and then has its own set of studs sticking out?

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Rob

On a car like a Malibu, I would just get good long studs and a big spacer. On other cars that may cause some vibration, but I don't think it would be noticed on yours. Ideally it would be a spacer that fit over the hub of the car and had a projection that fit in the back of the wheel. I would be worried about udon a bolt on spacer since there are more ways for it to fail.

I'm not familiar with Lemons rules. Do they address this?

nope.

I went with machined aluminum spacers front and rear. I got longer ARP studs and "ET Style" lug nuts.

I think this is the "best" way to do this.

Thanks!
