Gas mileage wasn't bad unless you floored it, then you could watch the gas gauge fall. I'd love another, but good examples are hard, hard to find.

We've also had a '65 Catalina wagon (389), a '67 Executive wagon (400?), a '68 GTO convertible (400), a '69 Bonneville wagon (428), a '69 Catalina sedan (400), a '69 Grand Prix SJ (428), and a '72 Grandeville convertible (455). Most of those are long gone, wrecked or rusted or just worn out. The Grandeville is still in the family though, and recently restored. It's got about 80k on it.

Funny thing is I just got this car from my dad and I am in charge of selling it for him.

1998 Grand Marquis - 138,000 miles. I easily aged 15 years by driving it. It floats and you can steer with one finger. The wife doesn't like it.

When you're making your post, right above the little smiley with shade and the bemused smiley, there is an icon of a camera. Click that and add the link to where the picture is hosted.

They won't attach from my desktop.

I had a '73 Riviera that I bought from GMAC as a repo. Ageless beauty is one way to describe it. 455 would move well. Couple of years ago I saw one done in black, dropped with nice chrome wheels, limo tint windows. "Lord Vader, your car is ready."

In HS I had a '68 AMC Ambassador. Definitely in the boat class. 343V8, 4-door. Yeah, it was a chick magnet! Not actual car, hot linked for goodness!

Most of my collection would probably be considered boats here.

But the flagship of the fleet at one time was the '67 Imperial. Has the same footprint as my long bed Ram. The Imperial was sold to a new captain last year and he's enjoying cruising the high(way) seas in it.

RoadRacer, your desktop photo is just a photo, it has to have that http: nosense in front of it. Move it from your desk top to PhotoBucket or something, then click the little camera.

Or just steal someone else's photo, that's called hot linking; here's a stolen '72 townsman image.

I grew up in the back seat of a 1958 Mercury Voyager wagon. No post, 420 lincoln engine, juke box drive.

If I found one I would buy it.

I drove a sky-blue 1977 Mercury Marquis 4-door through college. Still miss the old girl..and she was a big one. Took all manner of abuse and never let me down. Seated 6-7 comfortably with room in the trunk for 3 kegs of beer - confirmed.

My best friends parents had one of those. Every Friday night, when he'd get drunk, and fall asleep, we'd go down to the underground, steal it, and boot around town for a couple of hours. We were 15 at the time.

Growing up in that era, I've probably had more than 2 dozen big boats, but the only one I restored was a 55 chev.

You need to upload them first to Imageshack, Flickr, Photobucket, or some similar free hosting service.

googles picasa is another good one... if you DL their software (which isn't bad honestly) you can upload directly from that software... easy peasy if you already have a google account.

on a side note... this post is making it hard not to put an offer on my friends '66 monaco...

I've never restored one but drove a bunch. My dad was a Caddy man for years, he had a realy sweet '73 Eldorado convertible, silver with red interior.

My mom drove a Chevy wagon like the green one above that was probably double the size of my Trooper. I took my driving test in it, parallel parking would make you break out in a sweat. The biggest car I owned was a 1971 Dodge Charger, 318 2bbl. I bought it on a whim while I was in college and at 9 MPG it nearly put me in the poorhouse. That's the only car I ever saw where you could stand between the radiator and the front bumper when the hood was up. Speaking of the hood, it was easily as big as a queen bed. And that was considered a 'mid size' car of its era.

Lose that aftermarket chrome piece of crap on top of the grill and that's a snazzy ride

I had an '81 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 231 V6. A circus fat lady could stand between the radiator and the fan if the shroud was removed

430 or a 425 Nailhead?

maybe a 400 judging by your name didn't see that

1967 was the last year for nailheads. If this were a Wildcat, it would have the 430 but as it's the lower model LeSabre, it's rocking a 350. Luckily it's the 4-bbl version, so 280 hp, 375 ft lbs. Not massive power but enough to get it sideways.

"400" was an option package that included the 3-speed Super Turbine 400 trans.

It's not quite as solid as it looks in this picture and has 270,000 on it, but it would be a fine driver. I grew up riding in it and driving it, and I've been hanging onto it ever since, but it may go up for sale this spring. It hasn't been out of my garage in a few years. Anybody interested?

Will it be chgallenge priced?
