Anyone ever heard of/use them? 14" rally tires are a slim pickin's.

I need a set of 14's, so I'm all ears with this.

14s are out of stock. I'm planning on getting a set of remoulded maxsports from demon tweeks.

Let me know when you do that Evan. Perhaps we could figure out how to make shipping cheaper for both of us?

It looks like they're expecting more 14" stock towards the end of Jan., so I'm watching that with great interest.

I really want a set of the Hakka 2 grass tires. Hakka 2

Let me know when you're buying. I was planning on new tires and oftentimes the shipping on a large amount of tires is cheaper on a per-tire basis.

Unfortunately the money I was earmarking for new hoops is being dumped into a new non-rallycrossable car. No, I don't know what I'm thinking either

Makes me happy that a local FWD subaru guy still runs 14" on his stage rally car. I can still get cheap takeoffs with 75% of life left :)

Not looking forward to having to find 14" rally tires new for a reasonable price if I ever want fresh rubber to go to nationals or something.....

We need to bring over a pallet of them and then disperse them across the country.

I just wish the hakka 2s were available in wider sizes for big power.

The easy solution is to just yank the turbo off. Then you can run skinny tires.

No way, I'm going with a bigger turbo. I have too much traction now.

Just going by the site pricing shipping on 4 is $75 per tire. Shipping on 20 is $61 per. Although if we got enough to fill a pallet and ship it on the slow boat it would likely be much cheaper.

$75 per TIRE???

Crap. Screw that. Dmacks are/were much cheaper than that if you got a pallet of 'em.

...wait, are you talking about buying tires from Finland, or buying them from the US distributor? US distributor wants $20 a tire or so.

DMack USA was going to charge me $35 per tire when I was going to order some. I ended up not ordering, purely due to shipping price....

I gotta ask one of my deployed military friends to pick up a couple sets and just bring them back with his household shipment

In reply to Knurled:

I'm talking about the maxsport tires from England.

Dmacks are much cheaper shipping when they are in stock in the US. Also a more expensive tire to start with.

Oh, Maxsports.

$75 each is more palatable for them given that they're maybe $50-60 cheaper per tyre.

Someone in 2012 was telling me that he got four Maxsports for $380 shipped. No muss no fuss, just gave them his credit card number and a few weeks later, his front doorstep had grown a set of rally tyres.

(Yes, tyres. One must mind where they are coming from after all )

Just fooled around a bit on Maxsport's site. I WANT a set of RB3s. $414 with VAT, okay nice nice, shipping would be... $300.

$75 a tire sounds so much more expensive when you're multiplying it by four

I'll just deal with ye olde shredded rally tires and getting-shredded snow tires for a while yet. $714 will get me a Ben Swann chip when/if he gets back into production, AND an ur-quattro downpipe, AND fancy new motor mounts, AND a wiring harness so I can throw Megasquirt in my GTI.

(I can't believe I'm sidelining my rallycross car for upgrades to a vehicle that will never see any kind of competition except as a possible tow vehicle, maybe, probably not...)

i'm jumping in to say that i'd be in few 2 sets if someone is looking to do a pallet, i'd want a set of 13"s and one of 14"s

So the 14" variety is very popular around these forums. I'm interested, especially since I want to go to Nationals next year for the first time. Last time I checked, DMack was out and didn't sound like they knew when/if they'd have more (I emailed over the summer I think.)

I believe this place calls them "remolded" though, is that the same as recapped? Like might shred into pieces?

I ran Maxsport RB3s in soft compound on my V6 MR2 for 2 events- they are definitely not a rally tire carcass, the sidewalls are much softer. The compound is also softer- mine had no edges on the tread blocks after very little competition time. They also seem to be easy to damage when mounting. YMMV, the grip while they were brand new was excellent, but overall I wasn't impressed.

Apparently remoulded is better than recapped. They take the tire down to the bare carcass and remould the tread onto it or something like that.

But did you get the "grasstrack" version or the rally version? The rally version is on a reinforced rally tire carcass and costs a bit more.

Edit: Looks like it is the RB1 that I was thinking of that has the grasstrack and rally versions.
