So over the last few weeks, every great now and then when I start my car it gives a tiny puff of smoke and slight scent of anti-freeze. I've been kind of worried about the head gasket in the back of my mind, but was really hoping it might be something else, since it runs great and I haven't noticed any decrease in performance. Well, until yesterday. On my way back from lunch I noticed it was starting to run a little hot. Then it started missing (obvious dead miss in one cylinder) at idle (at a stop light). I topped off the coolant before leaving work, hoping that it was just running hot/running poorly due to low coolant. It wasn't. By the time I got home it was almost to the point of overheating, and the single cylinder miss was present at anything under 2k RPMs. I pulled the plugs when I got home and #4 had standing anti-freeze in the cylinder. Oh well, I guess this would be a good time to do a head rebuild and port and polish, especially since the valve stem seals have been leaking forever. And the leaky oil cooler is easier to get to with the head off! Give me a break, I'm just trying to find the bright side here! Anyway, I don't really have any questions, just needed to vent.
