The bulb in my front passenger-side turn signal on my N/A FC burned out a couple of days ago and did that thing where it blinks faster than the driver-side turn signal. I replaced the bulb, and it works, but the front passenger-side turn signal is still blinking faster than the driver-side or the rear passenger-side turn signal. The bulb is a 1157. It's not a big deal but I would like to fix it so I can sell the car in a few weeks and not get questions about whether or not it will pass safety inspection.
Ok... someone has to say it....
Did you check the fluid?
Wait, the front and rear passenger-side turn signals blink at different rates?
I always thought when one of them burned out that whole side of the car would do the double-time flash jig...
All I can guess based on what you've got is one of
-
bad bulb
-
wrong bulb
-
poor contact
Are ther any other bulbs,ie: marker lights etc.?
Yes, I checked the fluid, and it seems to be OK, but I'll stop by Pep Boys and pick up a new can, just in case.
The car has side markers on the front and rear but they light up OK. I noticed the socket had some rust on it. I'm going to try swapping the bulbs around and see if the problem remains. If it does, then I'll know if it's the bulb or the socket. I can swap the Turbo's socket onto the N/A if need be.
You can have a bulb with a stretched or fractured filament, and that will cause the symptom. I messed and messed with the 3rd brake light on my 850, it was causing the "lamp out" indicator to light. I spent time cleaning the contacts, checking things out, and finally the bulb burned out when I tapped it aggressively. Replaced the bulb, and the "lamp out" indicator cleared. Turned out the filament was just on its way out.
