The 320i turns up in "Underrated Classics" over on the Classic site: http://classicmotorsports.net/articles/underrated-classics/

No shortage of E30 articles, including our Spec E30 project car, but not a whole lot on the ix in particular.

Gary, I've had an 89 5spd iX for a couple of years now, have had a very good experience. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions etc. Short story: They rust in all the same places as the other e30s; as long as front transfer case is solid you're OK; there is some debate as to whether the block is interchangeable with non-iX cars, but the oil pump is definitely not. Getting harder to find non-rustbucket, non-auto iXs.

You have to be careful with the IX cars. The transfer case is almost always worn or poorly repaired. In either case they are expensive to repair and very often were used in the rust belt states. The memories of the one I bought 7 years ago and briefly owned for 5 annoying months still haunt me.
