Last summer I dragged a bunch of people out to a rallycross and now one of them wants to go run their first autocross. Hopefully he'll get the bug too and want to do some more events.
I have a choice between two boats, my Camaro and my Fairlane. The Camaro has been through the cones a few times before so I think I'm taking the grandma mobile out for an autocross. My steering wheel is going to get quite a workout.

Any reason why I shouldn't give it a go? I'm not out to win obviously, just to have fun running my car.

IDK, after you've taken them to rallycross, they might not be as excited about Solo as they might have otherwise been. I found that once I started rallycross, even in a 100hp beater, I didn't much feel like doing autocross anymore in my 300hp non-beater, lol.
But take the Fairlane, because it's money!
[sigh!] I opened this thread hoping that it had sprint boat racing content like this:

+4 On expecting sprint boats. I love those things.

...AWESOME!!!!
Holy effing crap....I can imagine cornering at those speeds without brakes...big brass ones those guys have...
It's pretty crazy when a boat has a roll cage and actually needs it.

It is, quite possibly the coolest motorsport that never went mainstream.

Race boats can run cams that cars can't. No concern about low-mid range, just all out. I LOVE the sound at "idle". Off shore race boats, same thing, times two. Love 'em.
