ok i helped a friend change pads on a 2006 toyota highlander. we did a bleed at the same time just for kicks while all the wheels were off. fluid coming out looked clean and didnt have any air. thought all was good.
the pedal before and after the brake job. is squishy. the difference being now is that the pads grab and the car stops. but the pedal just does not inspire confidence.
any thoughts?
Thanks
Wes

Squishy means air. Keep bleeding.

We have an '01 Highlander, brakes have been squishy for as long as I can remember. Both before & after caliper replacement & brake job at the dealer. I suspect the MC or booster at this point, but at 10 yrs/160K it's about time for a trade in anyway.
some cars are like that. Most hondas feel like that to me. But my caravans and S13 have a great pedal feel IMO.
My old man has one. Brakes feel like crap. Always have.
Ok thanks for the help. Its his g/f's car so he was unsure if the pedal is always crap or not.
We are going to give it some time to see how things go then perhaps another bleed next weekend.
