Looks like a "humorous news spoof" site, playing off the college admissions scandal.

This is not news, this is how it has always been done. The truly talentless fail out soon enough, and the talented rich kids carry on to become world champions.

Has there ever been an F1 champion who was truly the best? In fact the sample size of contenders is quite small because the sport only draws from a tiny pool of wealthy kids who's families happen to be connected to auto racing. Imagine if all talent was allowed the same chance to rise to the top.

In reply to bearmtnmartin :

Hamilton is the best, through and through - love him or hate him, he is in the right place. But financial Exclusion is relevant for a lot of sports - Hockey comes to mind, Soccer as well - only the best rich kids make it all the way - of course there are exceptions to every rule. in F1 Hamilton and more recently Ocon are examples of a more working class up bringing. Esteban Ocon's Dad is a Mechanic in France and Esteban is very, very talented - but he lost out this year to the Mega-Bucks Stroll Steamroller, Old Man Stroll wants the "F1 Lifestyle" and apparently will go to great lengths to maintain it. Ocon was faster than Perez but lost out on the seat due to a couple factors, but 'F1 Politics' sums it up. Hamilton's Dad re-mortgaged his house so Lewis could race Karts - Kimi's dad towed his kart in an open trailer behind the family 4 door sedan, in fact early on he got talent scouts attention for racing karts in the rain with slicks on - he didn't have rain tires. for those Drivers, its a much harder battle, but they are used to a fight, and this is part of why they are good and why team owners want to sign them - enter F1 politics again.... RedBull tried a grassroots (ahem) program a few years ago. The goal was just that, to include those that would not normally have the opportunity to compete for an F1 seat. It was a poorly disguised effort to get an American into F1 to try to attract the US viewers. Scott Speed was the Benefactor of that program. There is pressure to sign an American at Haas, but how they do that is a mystery because the successful drivers come through the European System and there is no replacement for that, yet.

...and if Ron Dennis didn't fund the "Mercedes McLaren Stars of Tomorrow" karting drivers search, in which Hamilton won, (and was subsequently funded right through F1 with all the best equipment and people) we might not know who he is today...Money, Opportunity, Talent, Luck, Preparation - its a magical formula that has no definition.

That is literally how racing works.  Money and contacts get you further than just talent alone.  I fail to see what could illegal about this.  Am I missing something?

Give the man a gold star.  I take it the rest of you guys don't read the 'news'?  The admissions story has blown up all over the internet thanks to clickbait photos of Lori and her daughers.  Nothing like pretty faces and a scandal to make people click.

Wait, you're saying rich or powerful people use their money and influence to unfairly help their kids?

I'm a poor nobody and I make my kids work for what they want.  It worked well for my oldest, she now has the piece of mind that she is doing well do to her hard work not my handout.  I still think she would have preferred the silver spoon approach, like a lot of her classmates, and It likely would have been easier for me.

If money didn't rule the world and all of its decision makers would we ever get anywhere?  Oops this was supposed to go in the Troll thread.

LOL brilliant! Shame the article is so short though, lacking on details. And wait until they figure out that this has been going on for closer to a century than a mere decade!
