I won a firestone promo for a two day trip to the bs/FS proving grounds in Texas. Pretty cool, they said we would get to test cars and trucks and lots of various tires. Anyone else done this or been there?

I've been to the cooper tire one south of San antonio. We did a divisional autocross there one year. Man...Fort Stockton. They better let you play with some really cool cars to get you that far out in BFE.
This place, west of Fort Stockton, North of I-10? Cool ...
I haven't been to the test facility, just to Fort Stockton, Sanderson, and the "track" called US 285 where they run the Big Bend Open Road Race.
Well, fly out of Detroit Monday at 8. The itinerary shows four hours on the black lake which should be fun. Hope it is lol!

we ( CCRSCCA & SCRSCCA) a-x there 2- 3 times a yr … wish I could get in to the rest of the facility
Pretty fun, couple things that stood out:
1) testing Kenworth w900 without abs and w/abs on a wet runway. Interesting to see that both trucks stop in the same distance with like tires. Control is of course lacking without abs.
2) same trucks around a half flooded circle as fast as I could drive. I asked if they had ever had anyone roll one; no. It did slide ominously at first before the tires cut Through the water.
3) I did not drive this one but their test driver simulated a steer tire blowout at 70mph by warming the tires and hitting a 2" angle iron pike directly in the middle of the tread , at 70 mph in a semi he showed us some awesome driving! I was surprised to see very little damage to the tire, usually by the time I see them the guy drive on it another mile.
4) wet traction testing between tires on like cars, they flooded the black lake and we got To go at it. It was like auto crossing a rental on water.
108 degrees on Wednesday which was not exactly pleasant but the experience was worth it!
