Okay, i cant think of a good solution, so im asking the hive mind for guidance. Im building up a ford focus for rallycross, and my co driver has a friend that has a mostly stripped SVT that we can get for free/cheap, but we have to go get it. And when i say stripped, all the suspension and brakes minus lower control arms and shocks are gone, wheels and tires are gone, the head is off the motor, but is in the car, and the car is literally stuffed full of all sorts of parts from the car. its not even a rolling shell. I have a 15' Solid deck car hauler, but im struggling to find a way to get it onto the trailer. i can get a winch installed, but dragging the car on its undercarriage is not something id like to do, since the shell is almost pristine.

You could try fastening some lengths of 2x4 under the car like a set of ski's that way you can drag it and only mess up the timber.

Can you lift the car with an engine hoist or two and get the trailer underneath somehow?

Get the car up high enough to drive the trailer under it.

Hf movers dollies, their cheap ratcheting tie downs to keep them on the chassis and some muscle when they get to the ramp's to keep them from getting stuck, and the winch you mentioned, or a comealong.

I think this is you're answer. if you want to get fancy build a pallet with 3-4 "skis" and several cross beams locking them square. Add a winch and I think you are set.

+1 on the 2x4 or 2x6 for skis and if winching manually add rollers. A few pieces of plumbing or electrical conduit should make it move pretty easily.

Skies with 2x4s plus spray a little silicon lubricant on the side the car is sliding on Not much is needed. But it really helps.

Do you have a build thread for the car yet? Im a big fan of duratec ZX3s. You're local as well, if you'd ever like assistance let us know.

one time i strapped a pair of rear axles with wheels/tires under a car shell with ratchet straps, used my wheel dollies to line it up with the trailer, then winched it up.

I used dish soap. It washes off easy when you're done.

Two pressure treated 4x4's (or 2x6's) with the both leading edges front and rear trimmed like skis would do it. Remember that it has to come off the reverse direction when you get it home.

Are there any bolt holes they can be bolted to?

Also, I know of some stage quality practice roads less then 90 minutes away if you're ever up for burning up a weekend day and tank of fuel. If any of the Harrisburg/York/Philly/Baltimore people would be interested, I extend the same offer.

Thanks for the suggestions, it looks like some wooden skis are the awnser.

I do, but not on here, as my build isnt really "Grassroots" in any shape or form. and this actually isnt a Duratec, its a Zetech. the car is a 2000, built in January of 2000, so its an early production car. Ill keep you in mind if i find myself in need of something.

I thought "Grassroots" meant cool ass vehicle that someone built. Sounds like yours qualifies.

Buy a suspension and put it on there, since you're going to have to do that anyhow?

nah, its just a parts car, and even though the shell is clean it will either be sold/scrapped once i harvest the parts from it. I already have a 2000 ZX3 as the base for the build. I am considering pulling the suspension off of the ZX3 to get the parts car rolling, but im not sure if that will be worth the effort.
