Getting ready to paint my engine, hoping for a paint that I can apply with a brush rather than rattle can. Suggestions? Spray is always too thin and seem to flake off. Getting cold fast, application temp will be under 50 degrees F.

The application temperature is going to be an issue no matter which paint you're using, a lot of paint doesn't like the cold.

If it's flaking off I would suspect prep; decent rattle can paint should stick, but might require more effort. Thicker paint is probably going to be worse from an adhesion point of view.

I like Duplicolor Ceramic engine paint for rattle cans, haven't tried it under 50* tho but heat lamps may help
