Its a nice looking car, I haven't really been able to say that about a Buick before. It could be an interesting car if they manage to keep the weight down.

A lot of ink has been spilled over the AWD but that looks to be optional, and if they bundel the AWD with the autotragic, I cant really see it being the enthusiast's choice.

I bet the base will be FWD in which case the car will be a competitor with the Colbalt SS, which seems like a better "enthusiast" car.

meh

And there's the kicker. It's a great concept, but not something so totally kickass as to justify buying it new.

We do not buy new cars often, but since we just bought a new car in September I really can't see us buying anything else until our 7 year warranty is up. I drive stuff that breaks and I fix it, but I hate working on the wife's car , so she gets something with a warranty. That's what works for us.

If we were buying new sooner the Regal would get a good look and a new Grand National (I can dream) would probably just get ordered. "Probably not" meant .....it wouldn't be a "oh E36 M3 run to the dealer now purchase", but definitely hard consideration if we're buying new again. So I guess I mainly agree with you, but the "but not something so totally kickass as to justify buying it new" comment throws me because in that context why would anyone ever buy a beige Accord etc.?

I have absolutely NO idea why anyone would do that, hahaha. I think that's at least part of the point.

well for me it comes down to this...the wife doesnt mind if I buy a rusted out AE86 or a hi mileage 2.5 rs to play with if I have the loot. But shes not going to strap a bundle of joy in it either. If I were to say "Hun, found this here 92 240SX for $2200 to replace the old car to haul the kids to soccer and take my can to work" she'd punch me in the throat before I finished the sentence. But its waaaay more likely I could persuade her to sign up for 5 years of car payments for a perceived vanilla-mobile.

Absolutely. Unfortunately in my opinion, also lumped in the same class as this new Regal. Nifty car... doesn't tickle my fancy in any way except for the word "turbo." Which is great.... but there's a ton of turbo cars out there.

I'm right there with you on that one! A buddy of mine recently told me at different points in his life he bought a beige Altima and white Accord new. I told him I might have to reevaluate our friendship!

Depends on the year Accord and how it was equipped... but yes, i'd definitely be giving him the third degree to see what else he's been hiding from you.

with a 2nd kid coming, we are going to need a car bigger then our Audi A4. ideally we want AWD, stick and a turbo 4. We test drove a Legacy GT, the A6 and 5 series are too much $$. A used CTS is an option, I am pretty sure they made the AWD in a manual. Too bad they didn't have a CTS-V AWD.

On paper this car is perfect, I am not blown away by the looks though.

Glad to see that you're living up to your alias . I'd hate to see that go to waste.
