Not car related but, my Kubota B5200 front PTO (which engages mechanically) has a control cable about to die
It is completely NLA! SMDH!
So I'm looking for an option to build one. On one end there is a loop that attaches to a spring that it pulls to activate the pto. So, it has to be strong enough to do that 100s of times, at least. I've found cables with wrong ends, not really helpful, and custom throttle cable kits but am unsure if they will be strong enough.
The original cable is 54" +/-, with a loop on the spring end and a ferrell on the other with threaded housing ends with 2 nuts, for locking it in place.
Ideas?!

Start with the diameter of your wire rope. Then go to McMaster's wire rope ends. Choose your ends in threaded stud and clevis styles.
Cut your wire rope to length and crimp the ends on with one of these
A proper wire rope cutting tool will make you hate this job much less
Now, revel in the fact that you can now make custom cables. Shifter, parking brake, control cables.... all of them
Ooooo, I feel like I am about to unlock a superpower here.

I am in the middle of moving my machine shop so I can't make a "how to" post but if some one reminds me in two weeks.....
In reply to Trent :
I was actually on their site. It's so huge you can definitely get lost in it.

I constantly refer to McMaster.com as "The best website in the world"
Seriously. No AI nonsense, easily searchable, Their filters are amazing, CAD files available for damn near everything. It is near perfection.
Fun tip: you can use their CAD files to make 3D prints of parts. Works really well if you want something like an AN plug to keep debris out of a line that's been removed.
I can't find cable housing on McMaster
Also need the housing ends to be threaded so it can be secured with 2 nuts
You could also look to Midwest Control Products for a custom-made cable. They can do all sorts of variations of ends and housings. They built the shift cables for my Vanagon transmission conversion.
For example:

Very nice. I'm also hunting other control cables that I could modify. If I could reuse my housing, I would, but the cable barely moves inside it, so there must be significant rust
Are you looking for a push pull cable? McMaster has nearly any configuration you could ask for.
Push/Pull Control Cable Clamp Mount, 10-32 Thread, 6'Overall Length, 3" Maximum Stroke Length
One example.
In reply to NY Nick :
I guess it is a push-pull, to a degree. One end is spring assist so mostly pull, but traditionally, it'd be a push-pull
In reply to NY Nick :
Link isn't working, for some reason
In reply to Docwemple :
Weird, I used the share button on McMaster. Let's try this way

Is that something that could help?
In reply to NY Nick :
The threaded shaft needs to be on the housing, not the cable.
Search push pull cable on McMaster and they will come in all sorts of configurations and sizes.
Do you have the space/routing to do a rigid linkage instead of a cable? Certainly opens up a lot more possibilities for hardware.

Is the housing damaged? Usually it's the cable that suffers.
bookmarking for future use.
Is Kubota the kind of company where all PTO control cables from all models are almost (but not quite) exactly the same and potentially interchangable?
Does one of the 'universal' parking brake kits have anything useful? Some of the name brand (and presumably good quality) kits cost about as much as McMaster's cables, but there are cheap (very cheap) knock-off kits too.
