I get the point about the irony, but KBB is roughly double the asking price. If it is in otherwise good condition, it might be worth finding a junkyard motor.

I'm not really commenting on the value, as I didn't even look it up. Just the description. I was reading through it and thinking, "there's got to be something wrong with this car for this price". But it said it was in great condition, so I kept reading. Then at the end...
Not sure how much an engine cost, the car could be worth some money on the street (fixed ) depending on the engine cost.

I'd check the floors for rust, but $4500 isn't really out of line for one of these in that condition, assuming that it doesn't also have the usual German-car problems.
