Look in the yellow pages under "plastics".

Ask your local sign shop. We get ours from Harbor Plastics or GE polymer or who ever has what on sale.

Try ~Online Metals~.

Lexan is a trade name.........look under "polycarbonate sheet" on the link above.

And maybe specify 'clear' polycarbonate if you want to see through it ;)

Most glass shops sell lexan. Big difference between regular plexi and Lexan when it comes to shatter resistance and price. Lexan is required by the SCCA. Metric equivalent of one eighth on the sides and back windows and one quarter on the windshield. Thats 3mm and 6mm for you that are metric savvy. FWIW last time I bought the 3mm stuff it was around $9 a square foot. Cheaper plexi can be had at Home Depot.

Plexiglass (TM) is acrylic, Lexan (TM) is polycarbonate. Don't get them mixed up, they're for different purposes.

Supported 3/8 Lexan will stop a .38 from a 2" barrel. .22 from a rifle will penetrate. Done it. Also, bricks and pavers. Fun stuff for store windows.

Lexan, as compared to Plexiglass, is kind of "floppy" so don't go too thin to save money or weight. A scratch-resistant coating is available, very important if it'll be used on a car. Also, do NOT use it for a windscreen if you'll be using wipers, as it'll get hazy in a hurry, coated or not.. WWW.mcmaster.com also carries it. And no, it isn't cheap.
