OK, you C4 pilots - what are your tire preferences for combination street/track tires? Specifically for a late C4 with 17x8.5 front rims, 17x9.5 rear rims? Selection seems limited. Not looking for the absolute hottest tires, but very good ones, in the vien of Star Specs, etc. Looks like the current Kumho Excsta XS (not R-comp) is about it in the stockish 255/285 setup, and their 255 is a 40-series, rather than the stock 45-series, so the car will acquire a slight rake and decraased front ground clearance. Do you guys use 245/275 or what. Ideas desired. At this time, just looking for info, not purchasing right now.
Who'da thunk that 17s for a common car like a Corvette would be getting hard to find?
I think 16-20lbs of c4 will resolve this problem
I think one of the answers will be kumho xs though

bosses car we have 275's all around on it. seems to work well
I can't comment on brand but I felt more comfortable with a matched setup; 275's all around had a neutral balance. When I had 275's in the front and 295's in the rear it had more grip on acceleration but was less balanced past the limit. (I spun way more autocrossing..)
And that's just one mans opinion.

This does make sense in a few ways though. I prefer matched set anyways.
Earlier C4 had the same size wheels front and back, later base cars had smaller ones up front. Wider fronts were part of different suspension options.
I'd get a set of wider fronts to match the rear and go 275 or 285 all around. Check your alignment specs, they may offer a more 'aggressive' set of spec's as well if interested.
I was running 275's all around, RA1's. It was a lot of fun, neutral...it felt like a big rattly Miata, to be honest.

HAHA I see what you did there, but seriously, I think about 1lb would be more than enough...
