How do the road racers attach a cage to a miata chassis? I was doing some fitment checks on the Fiata last night and putting the seat where the pedals and steering wheel want it to be makes fitting the main hoop to the floor a difficult proposition. Does anyone have a spec miata or similar setup they can take pictures of to show me how they did it?
We wrote all about this with our yellow Miata project:

here is one from here http://www.sccaforums.com/forums/aft/42413. see post from Dan Lipperini Jr
I have seen pictures of that cage kit. It looks like a good one but is too much for a challenge budget. How tight is the fit from a leg length perspective?
The Hard Dog cage mounts to the rear bulkhead, not the floor.
Woody, I was wondering about that. I searched for images of spec miata cages and some seemed to be mounted on the rear deck. But is that a legal (or even safe) way to make a spec miata or chump legal cage?
this one seems to be scca legal for spec miata and is mounded to the deck.
Every cage I've seen for the Miata mounts to the top of the rear bulkhead like that. It's strong.
Here's a place that sells a number of options for cages.
