All of the fatalities were people in their early to mid-20s. That suggests that you've got a bunch of folks who are still in that "invincible" phase of their lives, where they're more apt to throw caution to the wind. Having been around racing most of my life, I can guarantee you that I'd be a looong way from the race surface at an event such as this. There's not a lot to be gained from playing the blame game, but if one had to, I'd start with the organizers.
I'm really glad that those three kids didn't get killed, even if the father of one of them did. Adults can decide how much risk they are willing to take. Kids shouldn't be put in the line of fire when their guardians have no sense.
