I never even knew that these existed.

Callaway got their start turbocharging BMW's of all things. They have mucked about with a lot of different cars. Their history and a list of the cars they've done would make a cool article for a magazine that wrote about such things.
Apparently 20 were built:

There was also Windblown and BAE who built turbo kits for the 924, until Porsche produced their own 924 Turbos.
The eighties were certainly the Turbo-era!
I had an 81 callaway scirocco s, zender wide body and all the goodies. Good 80s stuff but not really high quality.
Probably closer to 10 or 12k due to the rarity and CL BS-o-meter...
It certainly isn't original since they added the 951 rear diffuser (at least it wasn't that E36 M3ty "Euro" diffuser/skirt).
The Callaway GTV6 was quite entertaining. 50 built, about 25 know to still be alive. As far as keeping the gear box happy in one, you just don't need 100% throttle until 3rd gear. The one I did some work on had the bad habit of the boost hoses blowing of one of the TWO throttle bodies. It was fun and way faster than a conspicuously 80s car should have been. I did manage to get copies of all the Callaway documents and specs the owner had with the car.
Alfa V6 with lots of boost...

My nephew bought a Mk I Scriocco with a Callaway turbo kit installed. Once he got it running again it was pretty quick for what it was.

Most kids had a Lamborghini Countach poster, I had a Callaway Sledgehammer.
I remember when that sold at Barrett-Jackson. The buyer also snapped up a few other ones as well.
I would very much like to own this car...
Callaway sold a good number of cars from his personal collection; ALL went to one buyer, including the Sledgehammer and Inky Blue. I'm a little surprised the buyer is splitting the collection up, but I nonetheless plan to win the lottery so this car can be mine. Haven't been to Mecum Kissimmee in a couple of years, and DAMN, it's during the 24. No problem, I shall send a proxy to retrieve my new ride.
